Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

5043 articles

You won't find a bigger Cubs fan than myself. Aside from my love of fantasy sports, which includes MLB, NFL and NBA, I own my own animal care business. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago and currently reside in Chicago, IL. My love of fantasy sports started for me in the early 2000's and I have steadily been active with the same group of friends year in and year out for every league in baseball, basketball and football. I am hoping to help all RotoBaller members with any questions they may have. I consider myself an expert with minor league prospects, as it is a love of mine. I hope to give the best advice I can to the RotoBaller world!

Jason Heyward Scratched From Wednesday’s Lineup

Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward (knee) has been scratched from Wednesday’s lineup with left knee inflammation. Heyward has struggled lately and will be replaced by Tony Kemp. The lefty will square off versus the Pirates on […]

Nicholas Castellanos Continues To Enjoy Being A Cub

Chicago Cubs outfielder Nicholas Castellanos continues to enjoy himself as a Cub. The outfielder went 2-for-4 on Tuesday with a solo home run and two runs scored. Castellanos has been raking since joining the Cubs and should be started in all formats.

Jason Heyward Will Sit Saturday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward will get a day of rest on Saturday versus the Reds. Heyward has cooled off lately and has just five hits over his last 26 at-bats. Albert Almora Jr. will replace Heyward and bat first for the Cubs Saturday. Almora is a dart throw in DFS Saturday versus Reds starter […]

Jonathan Lucroy Will Start Thursday

Chicago Cubs catcher Jonathan Lucroy will start on Thursday versus the Reds. Lucroy was signed on Wednesday and will be thrown right into action Thursday. Lucroy has experience catching Cubs pitcher Cole Hamels, so it’s not that unusual. Lucroy will bat eighth versus Reds starter Alex Wood and can be avoided in all formats for […]

Cubs Sign Jonathan Lucroy

The Chicago Cubs have signed catcher Jonathan Lucroy. Lucroy was recently designated for assignment by the Angels and will provide the Cubs with a veteran presence behind the plate with Willson Contreras (hamstring) sidelined for a month. Lucroy could share time with Victor Caratini and the move also means that Taylor Davis could be demoted […]

Kyle Schwarber Will Sit On Tuesday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber will sit with the Cubs facing left-hander Brett Anderson on Tuesday. It’s just a routine day off for Schwarber. The slugger has been warming up over the past two weeks and has three home runs over that span. Albert Almora Jr. will replace Schwarber and bat sixth. Almora isn’t a […]

Craig Kimbrel Placed On Injured List

Chicago Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel (knee) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with right knee swelling. The Cubs bullpen has struggled and the loss of Kimbrel won’t help. Steve Cishek is the top candidate for saves with Kimbrel sidelined, but manager Joe Maddon may choose to play the matchups. Cishek is worth a […]

Darvish is coming off of a strong July in which he allowed just two walks and struck out 36 batters over 30 […]

Jason Heyward Picks Up Three RBI

Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI on Sunday versus the Brewers. Anthony Rizzo Goes 4-For-5

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo enjoyed a nice afternoon on Sunday versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Rizzo went 4-for-5 with four singles to raise his batting average to .286 on the season. Rizzo was in a tiny slump entering Sunday’s game and his strong performance is what fantasy owners hope will get him back on […]

Hector Santiago Will Start Tuesday

The Chicago White Sox have announced that starting pitcher Hector Santiago will be called up from Triple-A Charlotte to make a start on Tuesday versus the Tigers. The veteran lefty was signed to a minor league deal in June and has struggled with a 5.48 ERA across seven starts. It’s likely that Santiago won’t stay […]

Eloy Jimenez Knocks In Three Runs

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez picked up three RBI on Sunday versus the Phillies. The rookie finished the game 1-for-4 and also scored a run. Leury Garcia Hits Grand Slam

Chicago White Sox outfielder Leury Garcia went 1-for-5 with a grand slam on Sunday versus the Phillies. Garcia has gotten a lot of run this year for the White Sox and it has paid off. Garcia is quietly hitting .289 with seven home runs, 33 RBI and 12 stolen bases. He is worth rostering in […]

Reynaldo Lopez Picks Up Win Number Six

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez picked up his sixth win of the season versus the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday. Lopez allowed seven hits, three runs, three walks and struck out over 5 1/3 inning. Lopez had a brutal first half of the season, but had a nice July in which he posted a […]

Willson Contreras Sent To The Injured List

The Chicago Cubs have placed catcher Willson Contreras (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain. It’s a big blow to fantasy owners as Contreras is one of the best contributors behind the dish. There is currently no timetable for his return and the Cubs have recalled Taylor Davis from Triple-A Iowa. […]

Willson Contreras (Hamstring) Will Sit Sunday

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras (hamstring) will sit Sunday versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Contreras was in pain after running to first base on Saturday and left the game immediately. Cole Hamels Has Strong Return

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Cole Hamels went five innings in his return from the injured list on Saturday. Hamels was limited in his first start back, but […]

Willson Contreras Exits Early With Injury

Chicago Cubs All-Star catcher Willson Contreras left Saturday’s contest early with a foot injury. Contreras hurt his foot after running to first on a pop fly. Contreras was recently on the injured list and looked to be in a lot of pain. Victor Caratini will replace Contreras and would start should he miss more games. […]

James McCann Gets Saturday Off

Chicago White Sox catcher James McCann will receive Saturday off versus the Philadelphia Phillies. McCann has been in a big slump since making his debut as an All-Star this year. The Chicago Cubs have activated starting pitcher Cole Hamels (oblique) for Saturday’s start versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Hamels had been sidelined since June 28 with an oblique injury. Kyle Schwarber Will Rest Saturday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber will rest on Saturday versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Schwarber is hitting a poor .197 over his last 71 at-bats, but does have six home runs over that span. Schwarber is what he is and that’s a power hitter with a low batting average. Schwarber is worth the roster spot for […]

Robel Garcia Optioned

The Chicago Cubs have sent infielder Robel Garcia to Triple-A Iowa. Garcia had a nice start to his big league career, but has struggled at the plate lately.
