Willy Adames Out With Side Soreness on Tuesday
Willy Adames (side) is dealing with soreness in his right side and isn't in the lineup against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday, John Shea of the San Francisco Standard reports. Christian Koss will fill in for Adames at short and hit sixth in a meeting with right-hander Nick Pivetta. It's a rare night off for Adames, who will miss his second game out of 126 in his first season with the Giants. After a white-hot July (.337/.422/.674 with seven home runs and 21 RBI in 24 games), Adames has gotten off to a terrible start in August. He's just 8-for-65 (.123) with three homers, five RBI, and 25:6 K:BB in 17 games this month. The 29-year-old has put together a middling .222/.308/.392 line with 19 HRs, 62 RBI, 73 runs scored, and six stolen bases over 531 plate appearances this season.
