Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

5043 articles

You won't find a bigger Cubs fan than myself. Aside from my love of fantasy sports, which includes MLB, NFL and NBA, I own my own animal care business. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago and currently reside in Chicago, IL. My love of fantasy sports started for me in the early 2000's and I have steadily been active with the same group of friends year in and year out for every league in baseball, basketball and football. I am hoping to help all RotoBaller members with any questions they may have. I consider myself an expert with minor league prospects, as it is a love of mine. I hope to give the best advice I can to the RotoBaller world!

Alex Colome Picks Up The Loss On Wednesday

Chicago White Sox closer Alex Colome picked up the loss on Wednesday versus the New York Mets. Colome’s inning started with an error by shortstop Tim Anderson and things unraveled from there. Ian Happ Drives In A Run

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ went 1-for-3 with an RBI and walk on Wednesday versus the Cardinals. Happ has started every game since being recalled this weekend and despite a .154 batting average, Happ has drawn six walks. Happ could lose playing time with the Cubs acquiring Nicholas Castellanos on Wednesday. Happ is only worth […]

Kyle Hendricks Excels Versus Cardinals

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks allowed seven hits, zero runs, zero walks and struck out seven Cardinals on Wednesday. Hendricks finishes off a great July and allowed only eight runs over 32 innings. Hendricks now owns a cool 3.07 ERA and will face the Oakland Athletics in a home game on Monday.

Cubs Acquire Nicholas Castellanos

The Chicago Cubs have acquired outfielder Nicholas Castellanos from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for pitching prospects Alex Lange and Paul Richan. The Cubs offense has struggled lately and Castellanos is a big get for them. Castellanos has crushed left-handed pitching this season to the tune of a .347 batting average. His stock rises in […]

Yoan Moncada Exits Early On Tuesday

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada exited Tuesday’s contest versus the Mets after the top of the first inning. Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times has reported that White Sox trainers were looking at Moncada’s lower half prior to Tuesday’s game and nothing appears serious. Moncada is day-to-day for now. Ryan Goins has replaced Moncada […]

Pedro Strop Placed On Injured List With Sore Neck

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Pedro Strop (neck) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with neck tightness. Strop started feeling the pain on Sunday and has been struggling of late. Dylan Covey Fails To Record An Out

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Dylan Covey failed to record an out in Sunday’s start versus the Minnesota Twins. Covey allowed five hits and five runs. Covey has really struggled this year and now owns a 6.99 ERA. Covey will look for better results on Saturday versus the Phillies. Covey should be avoided in all […]

Jose Quintana Can’t Make It Through Five Innings

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jose Quintana only lasted 4 2/3 innings on Sunday versus the Brewers in Sunday. The lefty cruises through the first four innings, but got beat up in the bottom of the fifth inning. Quintana finished with a line of four hits, three runs, two walks and three strikeouts. He will look […]

Kyle Schwarber Drives In Seven Runs

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber went 3-for-3 with two home runs, four runs scored, seven RBI and a walk on Sunday versus the Brewers. Schwarber broke out this afternoon after being demoted from the leadoff spot earlier this week. The slugger will help fantasy owners who seek power, but the lefty has struggled overall with […]

Cole Hamels Struggles In Rehab Start

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Cole Hamels (oblique) threw three innings for Triple-A Iowa during a rehab start on Sunday. Hamels allowed three hits, three runs, three walks and struck out four batters. The lefty has been sidelined since late June and there are whispers that he can return to the big league club as soon […]

Eloy Jimenez Activated From Injured List

The Chicago White Sox have activated outfielder Eloy Jimenez (elbow) from the 10-day injured list. It was the rookies second stint on the injured list this year and there was no rehab assignment needed this time around. Jimenez has struggled defensively and that has led a pair of trips to the injured list, but while […]

Yoan Moncada Continues Career Year

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada went 3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles versus the Twins on Saturday. Moncada also scored twice and drove in a pair. The first time All-Star is having a breakout season and is now hitting .302 with 20 home runs and 59 RBI.

Daniel Descalso Placed On Injured List

The Chicago Cubs have placed infielder Daniel Descalso (ankle) on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle sprain. Descalso has struggled mightily at the plate this year with a .181 batting average and two home runs. Even when healthy, Descalso can remain on the waiver wire in all formats.

Cole Hamels Will Make Rehab Start

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Cole Hamels (oblique) threw a bullpen session on Thursday and will pitch for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs on Sunday. It’s a step in the right direction for the lefty who owns a 2.98 ERA on the season. Hamels has been sidelined since late June with a left oblique strain and is […]

Cubs Acquire Derek Holland

The Chicago Cubs have acquired veteran pitcher Derek Holland from the San Francisco Giants for cash considerations. Craig Kimbrel Gets Fifth Save

Chicago Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel picked up his fifth save of the season on Friday versus the Padres. It was Kimbrel’s eighth appearance with his new club and the sixth time that he didn’t allow a run. Kimbrel looked a bit rusty early on in his Cubs tenure, but has looked more like himself as […]

Anthony Rizzo Hits Grand Slam

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk on Friday versus the San Diego Padres. Rizzo has been on fire since the All-Star break and is now hitting a healthy .288 with 20 home runs and 65 RBI. The lefty slugger remains one of the top first baseman […]

James McCann Will Rest Thursday

Chicago White Sox catcher James McCann will rest on Thursday versus the Royals. It’s just a routine day off for the All-Star that has struggled lately with a .188 batting average in his last 32 at-bats. Wellington Castillo will replace McCann and bat fifth versus Brad Keller. Castillo is no more than a dart throw […]

Kyle Schwarber Will Sit Wednesday Versus Reds

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber will sit on Wednesday versus the Reds. Schwarber has been on a home run streak lately and has hit three bombs over the last three games. Schwarber is a solid source for power and OPS and should be started in all formats as long as he’s hitting home runs. David […]

Robel Garcia Goes Yard

Chicago Cubs second baseman Robel Garcia went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and one run scored. Garcia has started six games since making his big league debut July 3.
