Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

5043 articles

You won't find a bigger Cubs fan than myself. Aside from my love of fantasy sports, which includes MLB, NFL and NBA, I own my own animal care business. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago and currently reside in Chicago, IL. My love of fantasy sports started for me in the early 2000's and I have steadily been active with the same group of friends year in and year out for every league in baseball, basketball and football. I am hoping to help all RotoBaller members with any questions they may have. I consider myself an expert with minor league prospects, as it is a love of mine. I hope to give the best advice I can to the RotoBaller world!

The Chicago White Sox have placed catcher Welington Castillo on the 10-day injured list with a strained left oblique. Castillo isn’t expected to be back when first eligible. The White Sox have promoted catching prospect Zack Collins to replace Castillo.

Zack Collins Officially Promoted

The Chicago White Sox have prompted catcher prospect Zack Collins. Collins will replace Welington Castillo (oblique) who was placed on the 10-day injured list with an oblique injury. Collins was a first-round pick in 2016 and has been hitting .258 with nine home runs for Triple-A Charlotte this season. James McCann has been doing a […]

Willson Contreras Will Rest Tuesday

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will get a day of rest on Tuesday versus the White Sox. Contreras has been resting twice a week over the past couple of weeks, but remains one of the best offensive catchers in fantasy circles. Victor Caratini will replace Contreras and will bat sixth. Caratini will face Ivan Nova […]

Jose Abreu Continues To Drive In Runs

Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu went 3-for-5 on Friday with two runs scored and a RBI on Friday versus the Yankees. Abreu knocked in RBI 53 and now leads the American League in that category. Abreu has been as consistent as they get over the course of his career and is now hitting […]

Lucas Giolito Continues To Dominate

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito continued to shine on Friday versus the New York Yankees. Despite allowing four walks, Giolito only allowed four hits, one run and struck out six. Eloy Jimenez Has Career Day

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez went 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Jimenez also hit a pair of three-run home runs to end the day with six RBI. One of the games top prospects, Jimenez got off to a slow start, but is now swinging a scorching hot bat. The outfielder now has five home […]

Cole Hamels Extends Scoreless Streak To 23 Innings

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Cole Hamels extended his scoreless inning streak to 23 on Wednesday versus the Colorado Rockies. Hamels loaded the bases in the first inning, but escaped unharmed and it was smooth sailing from that point on. Over his seven innings pitched, Hamels allowed six hits, zero ones, one walk and struck out […]

Kyle Schwarber Stays Hot

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber continued his hot streak with a three-run home run on Wednesday. The slugger finished 1-for-4 with four RBI. Schwarber has really been since the ball well since moving up to the top of the Cubs lineup around a month ago and is hitting .272 with ten runs scored, six home […]

Javier Baez Crushes Home Run

Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI on Wednesday versus the Rockies. Baez hit his 17th home run on the season and now has 46 RBI to go along with a .297 batting average and a .907 OPS. Baez remains one of the most exciting players in the […]

Jason Heyward Knocks In A Pair Of Runs

Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward went 2-for-4 with a walk, run scored and two RBI. Heyward started the season, but cooled off and is now heating up again. The outfielder is now ten for his last 29, but only has one home run and five RBI over that span. Heyward doesn’t warrant much attention outside […]

A.J. Puk Returns From Injury

Oakland Athletics pitching prospect A.J. Puk returned from Tommy John surgery on Tuesday to pitch two innings for High-A Stockton. Puk allowed a home run and that was his only hit allowed on the evening. The lefty also allowed a walk and struck out two batters. The A’s have every reason to bring the talented […]

Jesus Luzardo Pitches Well In Return

Oakland Athletics pitching prospect Jesus Luzardo returned to action on Tuesday after missing the entire season so far with a shoulder injury. Luzardo threw three innings for High-A Stockton and allowed a pair of hits, zero runs, zero walks and struck out two on evening. Luzardo was a big a name coming into fantasy drafts […]

Willson Contreras Absent From Wednesday’s Lineup

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will rest Wednesday versus the Colorado Rockies. The Cubs had a night game on Tuesday and an afternoon game on Wednesday, so it’s no surprise that Contreras has the day off. Victor Caratini will replace Contreras and bat sixth versus Antonio Senzatela. Caratini is an affordable option for DFS on […]

Kris Bryant Gets A Breather

Chicago Cubs third baseman/outfielder Kris Bryant will sit Wednesday versus the Colorado Rockies. It’s just a routine day off for the slugger and David Bote will replace him. Bote will bat second versus Rockies pitcher Antonio Senzatela. Bote is an intriguing option for DFS on Wednesday. Bryant should be back in the lineup on Thursday […]

Addison Russell Returns To Lineup Versus Rockies

Chicago Cubs middle infielder Addison Russell (hand) will return to the Cubs lineup on Tuesday versus the Colorado Rockies. Russell had missed five of the teams previous six games with a bruised hand. Russell will bat seventh and face rookie pitcher Peter Lambert. Lambert shut down the Cubs in his big league debut, but Russell […]

David Bote Goes Yard

Chicago Cubs infielder David Bote went 2-for-4 with a home run on Monday versus the Colorado Rockies. Anthony Rizzo Picks Up Three Hits

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI on Monday versus the Colorado Rockies. Rizzo has been on a tear ever since his slow start to the season. The slugger is now hitting .284 with 17 RBI and 47 RBI. Rizzo is having a strong season and remains […]

Yu Darvish Doesn’t Allow A Walk

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish allowed six hits, four runs, zero walks and struck out three over six innings on Monday versus the Rockies. Darvish looked good, but struggled in the bottom of the third innings and allowed all four runs that inning. Darvish only has 11 walks over his last six starts and […]

James McCann Picks Up A Pair Of Hits

Chicago White Sox catcher James McCann continues to hit. The backstop went 2-for-4 on Monday to raise his batting average to .329 on the season. McCann has been one of the more underrated signings this past offseason and should be rostered in all formats at a tough position to fill in all formats.

Leury Garcia Hits Third Home Run

Chicago White Sox outfielder Leury Garcia hit his third home run of the season on Monday versus the Nationals. It was his only hit in four at-bats. Garcia has quietly hit .280 on the season, but doesn’t offer much in the power department to be considered outside of AL-only league.

Odrisamer Despaigne Goes Six Innings

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Odrisamer Despaigne picked up a quality start in his season debut for the Chicago White Sox on Monday versus the Nationals. Despaigne went six innings and allowed seven hits, three runs, two walks and two strikeouts. Despite the quality start, Despaigne suffered the loss. Despaigne owns a career 4.94 ERA […]

Yoan Moncada Exits Early With Back Tightness

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada exited Monday’s contest in the seventh inning with upper back tightness. Moncada was 1-for-3 with a single before he was replaced by Jose Rondon. Multiple sources have said Moncada is day-to-day for now and any long term absence would be a big blow to fantasy owners. Jose Rondon […]

Kyle Schwarber Will Rest Friday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber will be on the bench for Friday’s series opener versus the St. Louis Cardinals. Schwarber has become a fixture at the leadoff spot, but will start Friday’s game on the sidelines. Carlos Gonzalez will replace Schwarber in left field and bat third. Gonzalez is 2-for-9 so far in his Cubs […]

Willson Contreras Benched Friday

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will be benched for the second time in three games on Friday. Manager Joe Maddon has given Contreras two days off each of the past two weeks and the catcher should be available to start on Saturday and Sunday. Victor Caratini will take the place of Contreras and is batting […]

Craig Kimbrel Won’t Pitch For Cubs Right Away

Chicago Cubs newly signed closer Craig Kimbrel will need at least three weeks before returning to the bullpen. Manager Joe Maddon said on Thursday that he will talk to Kimbrel about a workout and throwing program. Maddon also stated that Kimbrel has to build up strength and hit check points just as he would in […]

Yu Darvish Pitches Well Versus Rockies

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish allowed three hits, three runs (two earned), three walks and struck out five over 5 1/3 innings on Wednesday versus the Colorado Rockies. Darvish cruised through the first five innings, but ran into trouble in the sixth inning. Darvish has been a roller coaster all season, but has pitched […]

David Bote Drives In Seven Runs

Chicago Cubs infielder David Bote went 4-for-4 with a home run and seven RBI on Wednesday versus the Colorado Rockies. Bote has performed well in a utility role for the Cubs, but doesn’t start enough to be considered outside of NL-only leagues. For the season, Bote is hitting .289 with seven home runs and 30 […]

Steve Cishek Picks Up Save No. 6

Chicago Cubs reliever Steve Cishek recorded his sixth save of the season on Wednesday versus the Rockies. Cishek allowed a double Trevor Story and then a RBI single to David Dahl, but settled down and retired the next three batters. The Cubs activated closer Pedro Strop on Tuesday and he recorded the save, but they […]

Craig Kimbrel’s Deal Is For Three Years

The Chicago Cubs deal with free-agent closer Craig Kimbrel will be for three years with an option for a fourth year. Kimbrel will earn $10 million in 2019, and $16 million over the next two seasons with an option for $16 million in 2022 that comes with a $1 million buyout. Kimbrel looked good in […]

Cubs And Craig Kimbrel Agree To Terms

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic is reporting that the Chicago Cubs and free-agent closer Craig Kimbrel have reached an agreement. The terms of the contract have not been given, but this is a huge addition for a Cubs bullpen that has struggled at times this season. It is also a great spot for fantasy owners, […]
