Top Quarterback Waiver Wire Pickups and Streamers for Week 11: Cam Newton, Mac Jones, Justin Fields, Tua Tagovailoa

justin fields fantasy football rankings news NFL DFS lineup picks

Dan Fornek's fantasy football quarterback waiver wire pickups before Week 11 of the 2021 NFL season. His free agent QBs to add, stream and stash off waivers.

For the second consecutive week, NFL teams struggled on offense leading to underwhelming fantasy scores. Only five teams (Dallas, New England, Buffalo, Carolina, and Philadelphia) found a way to score at least 30 points in their games. Conversely, five teams failed to score more than 20 points on offense, including an explosive Seattle offense that was completely shut out by the Packers. As always, when teams fail to put up points that typically means underwhelming performances from the quarterback position.

Injuries and bye weeks continued to hurt the quarterback position. Justin Fields, Joe Burrow, Daniel Jones, and Tyrod Taylor all missed this week due to byes. Additionally, Kyler Murray, Sam Darnold (who will likely be replaced by Cam Newton), and Ben Roethlisberger all missed Week 10 thanks to injuries. Just one quarterback threw for over 300 yards this week (Josh Allen). Just six other quarterbacks managed to surpass 250-yard passing. Mac Jones was the only quarterback to throw for three passing touchdowns and just six quarterbacks threw for multiple scores. Thankfully, we should be getting more quarterbacks back off injuries last week and just two teams will be on bye. Unfortunately, those byes mean we will be without Matthew Stafford and Teddy Bridgewater.

In this article, I will be focusing on players who are under 65% rostered in fantasy leagues while adding a couple of deep sleepers for two-quarterback leagues (less than 20% rostered).

Top QB Streamers and Adds

Daniel Jones (QB, NYG)

Yahoo: 30% rostered

The Giants were on their bye last week, which was just what their offensive skill players needed. The Giants should have Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepard, and Kadarius Toney back at full health and ready to make a push to finish the season. Jones has continued to be inconsistent this season, finishing three weeks with over 20 fantasy points, three weeks with over 15 fantasy points, and three weeks with under 10 fantasy points. The Giants will have a tough stretch coming out of the bye week, but they are games that Jones should be able to exploit in the passing game.

Jones and the Giants face the Buccaneers Week 11 on Monday night football before getting matchups against the Eagles, Chargers, and Cowboys. Jones isn’t the most exciting fantasy option, but he’s been usable despite missing most of the passing attack this season and offers rushing upside every week.

Mac Jones (QB, NEP)

Yahoo: 28% rostered

Mac Jones hasn’t been the flashiest rookie this season, but he’s extremely consistent. Jones had his best game of the year in a blowout victory against the Browns, completing 19 of 23 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions. Jones now has three games with multiple passing touchdowns and five games with at least 15 fantasy points scored. Jones has only produced modestly in terms of yardage this season (just one game with 300-passing yards), but he also doesn’t make many mistakes either (seven consecutive weeks with one or fewer interceptions).

Jones will continue to have a safe floor for the next two weeks, facing off against the Falcons and Titans secondary in the next two games. Armed with great pass catchers, a fantastic offensive line, and a strong run game, Jones can have a big game at any moment and consistently gives fantasy managers double-digit production.

Justin Fields (QB, CHI)

Yahoo: 25% rostered

The Chicago Bears offense isn’t great, but Justin Fields has seemingly turned a corner and is becoming a fantasy asset. In his last two games against the 49ers and Steelers, Fields has completed 64% of his passes for 466 yards and two touchdowns with four interceptions. More importantly, Fields has unlocked his rushing upside, carrying the ball 18 times for 148 yards and a touchdown. Fields now has four games with at least six carries and 38 yards. He also has four passing touchdowns in his last five weeks. The rookie quarterback now has double-digit fantasy production in three of his last four games.

The Bears come out of their Week 10 bye with a matchup against the Ravens. Baltimore’s secondary has struggled this season, most recently allowing Jacoby Brissett and Tua Tagovailoa to throw for 290 yards in a Week 10 loss. The Bears will likely have to throw the ball to keep up with Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore offense, which should give Fields streaming upside. As a bonus, the Bears will face the Lions in Week 12, giving the Bears’ signal-caller multi-week appeal.

2QB Options and Stashes

Tua Tagovailoa (QB, MIA)

Yahoo: 23% rostered

Tua hasn’t started the last two weeks thanks to a finger injury, but he came in for Jacoby Brissett on Thursday night and continued to play efficiently. The second-year quarterback completed just eight of 13 passes for 158 yards against the Ravens on Thursday night, scoring 12 fantasy points thanks to a rushing touchdown. Tua has scored double-digit fantasy points in five of the six games he has played the season, and the one time he missed the mark was thanks to an injury. The Dolphins have two straight victories and will need to rely on the passing game to keep momentum on their side.

The Dolphins will have a fantastic matchup in Week 11, facing off against a Jets secondary that continues to get exploited in the passing game. New York allowed 366 passing yards and two touchdowns to a Bills offense that had been completely shut down against the Jaguars in Week 9. Tua should be back as the starter next week, making him an excellent streaming option.

Cam Newton (QB, CAR)

Yahoo: 16% rostered

The Panthers went out and signed Cam Newton late last week, seemingly signaling the end of Sam Darnold’s tenure at quarterback. Newton only had two days with his new team, but still accounted for the team’s first two touchdowns (one rushing and one passing) against the Cardinals. When all was said and done, the veteran quarterback finished the day completing three of his four passes for eight yards and added three carries for 14 yards. Newton will likely take over the starting position for the Panthers going forward, and while he isn’t the same athlete he was years ago, he still has high-level fantasy upside. The Panthers' offensive line is beaten up and missing numerous starters, but Newton still has the benefit of Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore, and Robby Anderson going forward. Obviously, Newton remains a weapon in the red zone, especially on the goal line.

The Panthers have two games coming up against Washington and Miami, giving Cam easy matchups to get acclimated to his new team and learn the playbook. Given his rushing upside and the different weapons in the passing attack, Cam needs to be rostered in all leagues thanks to his weekly QB2 floor and QB1 upside.
