Matthew Boyd Solid Again Despite Loss
Matthew Boyd had another strong outing against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. Boyd pitched seven innings and allowed seven hits, no walks and three earned runs while striking out eight. Unfortunately, he was tagged with a loss in the game as the Tigers fell 3-2. Boyd now has a 2.13 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over two starts. He's yielded just one barrel over 36 batted balls. He's been throwing his changeup more this year (23.9%) than last year (17.2%). His changeup is his most effective pitch. It's registered a whiff rate of 36.4% this year. His next start will be on Tuesday on the road against the Houston Astros.
