Fantasy Basketball Buy, Sell, or Hold: Enes Kanter and Ja Morant

Milos Zvekic's buy low, sell high trade advice for Week 7 of fantasy basket. Milos delivers buy/hold/sell recommendations for Enes Kanter and Ja Morant in NBA leagues.

Trading in fantasy basketball can help you improve your team in the short, as well as in the long term. But, even more than that, it's just plain fun. Negotiating with your mate, going back and forth with offers, and hopefully, reaching a mutually beneficial agreement in the end.

It's not always easy to find the right deal that both parties could agree upon, so using the current form to your advantage could be helpful for you to get a deal done, and perhaps even get the most out of it.

Here are our Sell High and Buy Low candidates for Week 7 of the NBA season, right here at RotoBaller.

Are You for Real, Enes Kanter?

Ever since Jusuf Nurkic got injured about a month ago, Kanter has been thriving in the starting center role for Portland. In his last eight games, Enes is averaging 13.8 PTS (no 3PM) on 56.6 FG% and 69.6 FT%, 13.8 REB, 1.3 AST, 0.6 STL, 1.1 BLK and 1.9 TO in over 31 minutes a game. This has him ranked at #24 on Yahoo.

And even though I do like Enes, it's not very likely for him to keep it up at this level in the long run. He could score and assist at a similar level, sure. But that's not the real source of his value. His career averages are 7.7 boards, 0.4 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. Now, that is in about 22 minutes a game, so he should beat them just by playing over 30 now. But he is almost doubling the boards and blocks in just about 50% more time, so it will be difficult for Kanter to maintain this value.

On the other than, he is a career 77.5% free-throw shooter, so he should improve on 70% from the last two weeks, and this could be a bargaining chip when trying to swap him for a player with safer future value.

Another thing to look out for with Kanter is the looming return for Nurk. Sure, it's not close yet, as Nurk is expected to miss at least another month and a half, but if you're looking to stay competitive when fantasy playoffs begin, other players could offer more stability than Kanter.

If you can live without Kanter's strenghts, you could target some players around the top 40 in a trade. Guys that I like there (combined with some buy-low potential) are Jamal Murray, Andre Drummond (for those punting FT%) or even Ja Morant if his owner is getting impatient (you might have to pay a little more than just Kanter for Ja though).

Baller Move: Sell high

Time to Panic on Ja Morant?

The guy who took Luka Doncic to "overtime" in the rookie of the year race last season is struggling as of late. He started the season on a tear, scoring 44 and 28 points with an average of eight assists, one steal and one block respectively in his first two games. But then he got hurt, and his owners had to stash him (hopefully in an IL spot).

And just when he came back, two games in and Memphis is hit by the Covid related postponements. Five games in a row.

Finally, they start playing and Morant is averaging 14.6 points with 0.8 points on 41.9% from the field, 77.3% from the charity stripe, 2.4 boards, 7.4 dimes, 1.2 steals, 0.2 blocks and 3.2 turnovers in just under 28 minutes per game. That barely has him inside the top 200 for the last two weeks.

So some of his fantasy GMs must be pretty fed up with having Morant on their roster. If you could swoop in with an enticing enough offer, you could very well be on the receiving end of one of the best assisters and exciting young players in the NBA. Lonzo Ball, Enes Kanter, Tobias HarrisJerami Grant are all players who are playing significantly better than Ja at the moment but should end up behind him in rankings by the end of the season. Furthermore, Memphis will probably have more games until the end of the season as they had so many postponements, which also boosts Morant's value.

Baller Move: Hold or buy low.
