LPL DFS Picks for 6/14/20: DraftKings, FanDuel League of Legends Daily Fantasy

Jason Malmanger's expert League of Legends (LoL) DFS advice and DraftKings, FanDuel lineup picks for LPL slates on 6/14//20. His top LoL value plays and eSports DFS recommendations.

LPL's summer split is in full swing, and it has been quite an eventful one already. We've got a week yet until the LCK joins us in the early morn. Thes two-game slates have been difficult so far, but I remain determined to nail these slates for our readers and study these squads as we've had a few surprises already this split.

Yesterday we saw your friendly neighborhood LPL writer pick up a big win, along with many of our valued readers. Not gonna let it get to my head because we're back into the action tonight with two exciting matches.

Today, I'll be providing my League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for this LPL slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that locks at 5:00 AM on Sunday, June 14th, 2020. Make sure you are following me on Twitter @Mr_Malmanger as I often post starting lineups when I see them and other useful info for the slate.

5:00 AM: Suning vs. Invictus (-160)

Oh Invictus, with their recent trend, you may have caught some chatter on social media about them returning to their 2016-17 pre-world title days. It was Rookie out here trying to 1 v 9, and that's been an apt parallel. To further this popular meme, IG has re-signed their former assistant coach from that era, Chris. Weibo (Chinese microblogging site akin to Twitter) has been buzzing about it all morning, and as you can guess, it hasn't been too well received. As I have seen a lot of blame thrown around the internet about IG's struggles, I see it as a positive change. I've maintained that it seems to be a coaching/hubris issue with the players, and I think this addresses my concern a bit.

Now, as far as how much impact will have in a match that takes place a day later, no one can say. I like that Chris was also a coach for Snake Esports (LNG) before coming out of retirement to take this position with IG. That means he dealt with Flandre, another highly talented but temperamental top lane star maybe we get lucky and he browbeats theshy into playing Ornn. SNG will forfeit alone on the sound of the horn sounding to summon the Forge God, as anyone who recalls what theshy did to this team on Ornn in the spring can attest.

Let's talk about SNG a bit; they have played some sound league of legends so far this split, and they found themselves in a tantalizingly close match versus JDG. They were also able to tough out a close game versus WE, who we last saw dispatching IG on Thursday. One of the things they have been the best at is using SofM's/Swordart's ability to control vision to force other teams into mistakes and then capitalizing on them. One thing IG loves to do is push up lanes and into the jungle without vision, putting themselves in grave(s) danger. Bin has also been excellent since being awarded the full time starting position in the top lane. He favors carry champs and draws a lot of attention from opposing teams. I find it hard to believe that the top lane won't be a point of contention on Sunday morning. SNG has made some lapses in judgment in their own right, but with Bin (17) Angel (19) and Huangfeng (19) being so young, I think its to be somewhat expected that sometimes the veterans have trouble reigning in their exuberance.

Likely the series comes down to who makes fewer mistakes, and I feel like that is going to be SNG. I like them for a 2-1 here, though you could see another 2-0 if IG tilts off the face of the earth like they did game two versus WE. It is nearly equally likely that IG sweep or get their own 2-1 win. All they need to do is stay out of their way to let their incredible talent level show through. For that reason and I'll never be able to quit them; I'll have some IG on Sunday morning.

Top SNG Plays:

  • Huanfeng - ADC
  • Swordart - SUP
  • SofM - JNG
  • Bin - TOP
  • Angel - MID
  • I like everyone on SNG if they roll IG this is the order of preference.

Top IG Plays:

  • Rookie - MID
  • Ning - JNG
  • Puff - ADC
  • Theshy - TOP
  • Southwind - SUP
  • Order of preference again.

7:00 AM: JDG vs. TES (-170)

The rematch is upon us. The teams are teeing it up on social media; the casters are getting hype, and the dfs community is only a short step behind. What a night for gpps. We just saw this matchup in the LPL spring finals when JDG secured the title on some absolutely clutch plays from LvMao. Since then, we have witnessed TES take a half step forward in ruining the competition at the Mid Season Cup, while JDG has came a half step back to the field with a few shaky performances.

I initially missed some of the early TES run by declaring them a summer team, and joking about getting some tickets to the World's Finals so I can see Jackey lift the summoners cup again. They have come together more quickly and seamlessly than I would have imagined, but I assure you I'm on board now. I do like TES here to reverse the finals result by upended the champs with a 2-1 score. Jackey makes such aggressive plays, and the rest of the roster has the talent to back that up. Plus, if all else fails, Knight puts everyone in his backpack and carries them to victory. I also firmly believe that JDG can win again here, and in fact, I think they could be the better DFS play on Sunday. They like IG are in a buy-low spot, and we're getting them at a discount, sign me up. They got bounced by FPX in the MSC, and struggled with SNG in their opener.

Make no mistake JDG is still a top-tier team in this league, and for them to be dogs to anyone while getting less love from the public, this makes this an ideal dfs position. I will be building multiple lineups for this slate incorporating all four teams in various configurations. I think the other match is more explosive than this one so I'll take my short stacks from this side.

Top TES Plays:

  • Knight - MID
  • Jackeylove - ADC
  • YuYanjia - SUP
  • TES Team

Top JDG Plays:

  • Kanavi - JNG
  • Loken - ADC
  • LvMao - SUP
  • JDG Team

Summary

  1. The first game set should be the most attractive option for fantasy plays. I like my full stack to come from that series while targeting small stacks and team slots from the other, but as I've talked about reversing, that can make a great GPP way to still have a chalky combo with a twist. Or taking your captain from your short stack similarly can get you reduced ownership and a unique lineup.
  2.  FD is giving away SNG as the lowest priced players across the board. It will increase ownership and make me like IG a bit more over there for Gpp. A full SNG stack with Kanavi at Jungle and TES pieces around that sounds yummy already.
  3. What a great GPP slate I sure hope the casters bring their tea because we could be in for a full six-game morning, and that will leave all kinds of combinations of one-offs and captains viable.
