LPL DFS Picks for 6/8/20: DraftKings, FanDuel League of Legends Daily Fantasy

Jason Malmanger's expert League of Legends (LoL) DFS advice and DraftKings, FanDuel lineup picks for LPL slates on 6/8/20. His top LoL value plays and eSports DFS recommendations.

Welcome back, RotoBallers, to my League of Legends DFS column! We will continue to extend our analysis for LoL DFS across different leagues and sites, bringing you the insight you need to succeed. I am super excited that we LoL back in our lives, and I'm determined to offer the best free breakdowns that you'll find anywhere in the industry!

LPL's summer split kicked off Friday, and we're going to see two games every morning from now until August. Eventually, they will be joined overnights by the LCK, but from now until June 17th LPL takes center stage. Summer Season is here, and there are some massive contests posted in the FanDuel and DraftKings lobbies, including the 15-dollar Shock Blast that pays 50k to first place!

Today, I'll be providing my League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for this LCK/LPL slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that locks at 5:00 AM on Monday, June 8th, 2020. Make sure you are following me on Twitter @Mr_Malmanger as I often post starting lineups when I see them and other useful info for the slate.

5:00 AM: OMG (-180) vs. Victory 5

The LPL schedule has some funny tricks to it this split, as we are now seeing these teams for the second time before several others have even played once. This matchup will be all about overcoming recency bias for us as DFS players. We can't overreact to OMG's loss or V5's win no matter how much we would like to.

RNG is a team that can finish the top five or even top three in this league still, whereas OMG is a gatekeeper type of organization. V5 was able to capitalize on the many mistakes DMO made, and that's something that they weren't able to do the last split, but the more passive farming style that OMG wants to play will mitigate those types of mistakes.

Matches like this are where OMG will butter their bread this split, and I expect them to come away with the win. This set should be the slower of the two matches by a fair margin, and I like taking small pieces of OMG and their team slot.

I know I sound like a broken record saying this, but on most of these two game slates, you can't be afraid of taking nearly any side of a matchup. Most analysts, myself included, were taken by surprise by Estar in the spring split. Now I'm not saying V5 are the new Estar, but now that we've seen them win a series, a hedge lineup or two with them included is a good idea.

Top OMG Plays:

  • Icon - MID
  • Curse - TOP
  • OMG Team Slot

7:00 AM: LGD (-125) vs. Estar

We've got to wait until the late game to see a new pair of teams that haven't seen the rift yet. Both of which will be featuring some changes to their rosters that may be new to you. Peanut has some friends to play with now, and this roster could make some noise. Xiye and mark join from DMO, and LangX comes over from RNG, but LGD will be starting Garvey this morning instead.

He is a scorching hot prospect from their developmental league squad. I'm sure this is one of several of these temporary moves we've seen at the start of the season, while players move teams and acclimate themselves to the new organization. Garvey is still an upgrade over Lies and Cult from the last split.

On the other hand, Estar suffered a downgrade as Cryin returned to RNG, and they now field former LGD mid-laner FenFen. FenFen isn't bad, per se, he's a below-average LPL mid, but what he's going to lack for in this Estar team is the synergy that Cryin had. Estar's playstyle is similar to that of WE and FPX, and Cryin specifically with his jungler Wei enabled that.

Both teams could struggle out of the gate trying to integrate new pieces to their rosters, but I like the additions to LGD very much. Turning the top side from a weakness to a strength means a lot to me, especially since I feel that Xiaobai is a weakness for Estar. I'll take LGD to win this match 2-1.

Peanut should be able to take control of the early games as he favors a more carry oriented style, and then turn the game over Kramer or Xiye to finish up. This will be the more active of the two matches, and I will look to target this side more heavily. With uncertainty on both rosters, this is an excellent spot to hedge your exposure and have some Estar lineups as well.

Top LGD Plays:

  • Peanut - JNG
  • Kramer - ADC
  • Xiye - MID
  • Garvey - TOP

Top Estar Plays:

  • ShuiaC- SUP
  • Wink - ADC
  • Wei - JNG
  • FenFen - MID

Summary

  1. Two game slates will be the order of the day for the next week and a half. Roster construction will be essential, and with how close I think this slate ends up having a one-off player from a losing team could be a way to get different on DK.
  2. The Estar/LGD match will be the bloodier of the two today, and I will build more full stacks from this game and picking up ancillary pieces from the first set.
  3. I won't count V5 completely out here, though I do expect OMG to be able to gate keep them. Small stacks and team slots from this one are my favorite picks.
  4. Garvey, at only 7500 on FanDuel is a very nice price. He can make a great one-off even in Estar stacks.
  5. There has been substantial line movement today with EStar starting as favorites and now being slight underdogs. V5 is still an underdog but the line has moved a lot in their direction, too.
