LPL DFS Picks for 4/19/20: DraftKings, FanDuel League of Legends Daily Fantasy

Jason Malmanger's expert League of Legends (LoL) DFS advice and DraftKings, FanDuel lineup picks for LPL slates on 4/19/20. His top LoL value plays and eSports DFS recommendations.

Welcome back RotoBallers to my League of Legends DFS column! We will continue to extend our analysis for LoL DFS across different leagues and sites, bringing you the insight you need to succeed. Thanks once again for the outpouring of support from the DFS and ESports communities. I can't thank you enough for the kind words on Twitter, and your support has afforded me the opportunity to write about something I love every day.

There are three more games on the docket tonight in the LPL. With the LCS and LEC playoffs coming to a close, DraftKings discovering CBLOL, and the EU Masters main stage coming up - it's an excellent time for ESports DFS enthusiasts like myself. The number of contests on FanDuel and DraftKings continues to grow. Spring regular season is coming to a close, and there are already some massive contests posted in the FanDuel and DraftKings lobbies, including the 10-dollar Titan's Fury that pays 50k to first place!

Today, I'll be providing my League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for this LPL slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that locks at 3:00 AM on Sunday, April 19th, 2020. Make sure you are following me on Twitter @Mr_Malmanger as I often post starting lineups when I see them and other useful info for the slate.

3:00 AM: JDG (-550) vs. LGD

The first of two "easy" call's on Sunday's slate features JDG looking to cruise past LGD. This match will highlight two of the LPL's most exciting junglers as youngster Kanavi faces off with the legend Peanut. Unfortunately for Peanut, Kanavi is bringing a few friends to the party.

JDG is one of the best teams in the league, and are still looking to hold or improve their playoff seeding. They should be on their game, and that game looks sharp; they lead LGD in everything but their vision stats. I think JDG has too many weapons here to do anything but sweep.

The last few slates I have advocated for skipping JDG as they are locks to win, but they likely will do it too quickly and smoothly. I believe that may be true today as well, so be wary.

Zoom - Top ($6,200 DraftKings, $8,900 FanDuel)

I love zoom as the third-highest priced top-laner on DraftKings as his matchup with Lies is a fantasy-friendly one. On FanDuel, though, I would look to save a couple hundred dollars of salary and move down to Junjia or theshy. If he fits your build, his matchup hasn't gotten any worse.

Kanavi - JNG ($7,200 DraftKings, $9,200 FanDuel)

Even though he is the highest priced jungler on both sites and has a seemingly tough matchup vs. Peanut Kanavi still might be worth it. JDG smashes their opponents so thoroughly that their other carries never have time to see their item builds come on fully online. Jungle carries typically come on line sooner; this allows Kanavi to match or exceed Yagao or Loken in fantasy points on Sunday.

5:00 AM: WE vs. EDG (-385)

The closest matchup on the slate WE need to win out, and they're in the playoffs. EDG is set in the playoffs, and cannot change their seed. They have announced Aodi and JunJia are starting.

I don't know whether this a day of rest for Jinoo and JieJie or they want one final look at how this pair looks on the rift before setting their playoff lineup. This swap and not knowing the genesis of it gives me pause in what would be an EDG favored matchup. WE floundered in their last matchup, and Teacherma's limited and bizarre champion pool was exposed a bit.

This match is now a GPP special, and I think it becomes a great hedge spot. EDG still have Scout who should be able to rip Teacherma, but Beishang and Morgan may find it easier going against lesser competition. WE average 19.7 deaths in their losses, which makes the EDG side a little more attractive to me.

Scout - EDG - MID ($7,400 DraftKings, $8,600 FanDuel)

Teacherma has played very well since his debut, so well in fact, that I have gone so far as to compare him to Doinb. That is more a compliment on his playstyle than his talent level. No matter that as Scout should be able to run a lane kingdom on him. Scout is one of the best mid laners in China and, therefore, the world.

Aodi - EDG - TOP ($6,200 DraftKings, $7,900 FanDuel) and
JunJia - EDG - JNG ($6,600 DraftKings, $8,100 FanDuel)

This wont be for the faint of heart. With no knowledge or confirmation of why exactly this swap is taking place, but that should lower ownership on these two as well as giving us a discount here that may make or break our lineups on Sunday AM. I'm willing to take the plunge risking the swap for the discount in price and reduced ownership.

Beishang - WE - JNG ($6,400 DraftKings, $8,000 FanDuel) and
Morgan - WE - TOP ($5,800 DraftKings, $8,100 FanDuel)

Now the other side of the coin. WE absolutely laid an egg in a premium spot where they were very popular in their last match vs. LNG. Recency bias may drive people away from WE after that performance. WE's jungler, and top-laner get a bump from facing the backups from EDG, and quite possibly a demotivated EDG in general. The narratives about which teams care and which don't are difficult to quantify. At the very least there is always something to be gained from attacking instability.

7:00 AM IG (-1600) vs. LNG

LNG is fresh off their upset of WE and looking to build some momentum heading into the summer split. Chenlun17 collected a couple of MVP performances in that match, but he and LNG will have to look elsewhere for pre-summer success on Sunday.

IG should still be engaged here looking to lock up the number one seed in the playoffs. I expect them to DEMOLISH LNG here. The problem is we'll need to choose carefully as IG are the most expensive players on the slate.

Rookie - MID ($7,600 DraftKings, $8,700 FanDuel)

The last time he faced Maple Rookie went 11-0-7 on Akali, putting up 55.28 DraftKings points IN ONE GAME. Rookie's Syndra or Leblanc will produce similar results if he's able to get his hands on those champions.

What did Rookie do in the second game against Maple, you ask? We'll find out tomorrow because Maple was subbed out after that drubbing. If I can only fit one piece of IG, it will have to be their all-world MID.

Summary

  1. JDG is again the top spot for cash games with a decided advantage over the likes of LGD.
  2. WE vs. EDG is a match I like both sides of for GPP players due to the uncertainty swirling around the side of EDG and the recency bias that may sway ownership away from WE.
  3. IG should crush LNG, and unlike JDG, they do not play clean and safe. This style makes them riskier, but can give them more upside.
