Saturday brings us a fantastic day of baseball. In the early slate, we have a blockbuster matchup between the Red Sox and Yankees, as well as Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers against the Nationals. However, the evening slate should have some equally exciting games, and with the weather in America suiting hitting it could be an extremely high scoring affair. These slates are fairly even in terms of money but the bigger slate in the evening one and so that is where our attention will focus.
Right now the Cleveland Indians are the biggest favorites on the slate, but Mike Clevinger has been a little erratic at times this season due to injury issues. Houston is the next biggest favorite and with the imperious Gerrit Cole on the mound, he may just sneak the nod ahead of Clevinger. Lots of totals around 9-and-10 on this slate, so there are plenty of options with which to look for your hitters.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 7/27/19. DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers
Gerrit Cole, HOU (@ STL) - $12,000
This is looking like being a pretty grim day for pitching, with the weather around the country seemingly suiting hitters. Therefore I want the pitcher who can dominate on a day like today and I am willing to pay up for it. Cole is marginally worse on the road than at home, but he still averages 24.4 points per outing on the road. In his last two starts, he has scored over 35 points in each start and has over 30 points in four of the last five, scoring 27.3 in the fifth of those. There is a real chance he could be close to double the next best pitcher on this slate if he has hit best stuff today.
Trevor Cahill, LAA (vs. BAL) - $4,600
Now in order to get Cole in you need to gamble. Before you scoff and look away hear me out. As I have said this is a hitter-friendly day in general, but the one park likely to have somewhat neutral weather is in Los Angeles. Throw in that this Orioles team rank in the bottom fifth of the league in most hitting stats and there is a chance Cahill can return you enough points to be relevant. If you are potentially getting 30 points from Cole, then you only need 8-to-10 from Cahill and you have scored a solid amount and still have money left to stack your hitters.
DraftKings DFS Infielders
C - James McCann, CWS (vs. MIN) - $3,900
At catcher, I am always looking for value unless there is much value elsewhere that I can afford to pay up for one of the top guys. Today is a value day, and McCann has solid enough numbers against left-handed pitchers, .238 ISO, and .380 wOBA, to make it work.
1B - Rhys Hoskins, PHI (vs. ATL) - $4,400
There is a real clump of good options at first base all with very similar prices available on this slate. Hoskins is my pick as he has some wonderful numbers against left-handed pitchers this season, including a .310 batting average, .286 ISO and a .440 wOBA.
2B - Mike Moustakas, MIL (vs. CHC) - $4,400
Another guy with wonderful numbers against left-handed pitching is Moustakas, who has an impressive nine home runs in 125 PA. That has left him with a .292 ISO and a .370 wOBA, which should serve him well against Jon Lester today.
3B - Pablo Sandoval, SF (@ SD) - $4,000
Sandoval's selection here is a weighing up of potential upside versus price. He is the cheapest of the tempting third base option today, and has 11 of his 13 home runs with right-handed pitchers on the mound this season. Additionally, his numbers slightly favor his road starts, with a .283 ISO and a .350 wOBA.
SS - Jean Segura, PHI (vs. ATL) - $4,000
Again we are targetting Max Fried as Segura has really good numbers against left-handed pitching this season. Six of his 11 home runs this season have come with lefties on the mound, despite having just 85 PA against lefties. Additionally, eight of those home runs have come at home, and he is hitting over .290 in Philadelphia this season.
DraftKings DFS Outfielders
Bryce Harper, PHI (vs. ATL) - $4,500
I am definitely stacking against Max Fried on his return from the IL today. Harper is another Philly hitter with good numbers against left-handed pitchers, including a .248 ISO and a .357 wOBA.
Shin-Soo Choo, TEX (@ OAK) - $4,300
Just to switch things up let's look at a hitter who prefers a right-handed pitcher on the mound. Choo's splits are always pretty big, but this season he is hitting over .300 against righties, with 14 of his 17 home runs against righties, leaving him with a .237 ISO and a .397 wOBA.
Jorge Soler, KC (vs. CLE) - $3,900
Soler is another hitter who has preferred right-handed pitchers this season, with 22 of his 27 home runs coming against them. Those home runs have helped him to a .287 ISO, a .360 wOBA and a 125 wRC+ when righties are pitching.
