Daily Pitcher Matchup Ratings Tool Top Plays

Stephen Strasburg (WAS) @ ATL

FanDuel - $11,300 / DraftKings - $11,200

Strasburg's contract-year performance starts here. The Braves managed just four hits in a game that went to extras on Monday while Strasburg averaged a 10.7 K/9 rate on the road in 2015. Throw in his opponent (Bud Norris) and you have the safest play on the board.

Jose Fernandez (MIA) vs DET

FanDuel - $11,200 / DraftKings - $11,700

Fernandez is undefeated at home in his career and will put that claim on the line versus a potent Tigers offense. His 10+ K/9 rate is appealing, but I'll be looking to use my funds elsewhere today.

Carlos Carrasco (CLE) vs BOS

FanDuel - $9,900 / DraftKings - $10,000

Carrasco is a darkhouse Cy Young candidate and for good reason. He averaged a 10.0 K/9 rate at home and the ball won't be flying in the cold. I would limit exposure to GPP formats on Carrasco as there is safer floors abound.

Max’s Value Plays of the Day

Kenta Maeda (LAD) @ SD

FanDuel - $7,200 / DraftKings - $9,200

Who fell asleep at the wheel over at FanDuel? Maeda averaged more than a strikeout per inning in spring training and faces a Padres team still looking for its first run in 2016. Hitters tend to struggle versus foreign pitchers their first go-around before they adjust to their delivery. I expect more of the same here.

Mike Leake (STL) @ PIT

FanDuel - $6,600 / DraftKings - $7,200

Leake is the boring pick, but he provides a safe floor and has limited Gregory Polanco, Andrew McCutchen, and Starling Marte to a combined .198 average. Excellent SP2 on DraftKings.

Juan Nicasio (PIT) vs STL

FanDuel - $6,900 / DraftKings - $6,000

And here's the sexy pick. Nicasio was a Spring Training darling while piling up the strikeouts (24 K in 15 IP). The strikeout potential is clear, although I question if he'll exceed six innings.

Starting Pitchers to Fade in Daily Fantasy Baseball

Sonny Gray (OAK) vs CHW

FanDuel - $10,400 / DraftKings - $9,600

Gray is coming off a stomach flu and reported feeling fine on Tuesday. I'd still rather invest $10,000 on a healthy pitcher such as Carrasco with a higher K potential.

Collin McHugh (HOU) @ NYY

FanDuel - $8,900 / DraftKings - $8,400

Don't let McHugh's 19 wins in 2015 confuse you. He carried a 3.89 ERA and 1.28 WHIP and had a 7.3 K/9 on the road. Either spend a bit more or go for a value play over using McHugh.
