Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 7:
Carnell Tate, Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Carnell Tate found the end zone for the first time during his career on Sunday. The rookie wideout scored an eight-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter during Sunday's victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Tate hauled in six of his seven targets for 70 yards and a score in the dub.
It's quite incredible that quarterback Cam Ward threw for only 102 yards, and Tate was 70 of the yards. Tate posted a dud in Week 5, but he has been a solid option in three of the last four games. He'll look to keep the good times rolling against the Cleveland Browns in Week 7.
Omar Cooper Jr., New York Jets
New York Jets rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. had the start of his NFL career delayed after he suffered an ankle injury in Week 1 that led to him being placed on Injured Reserve. However, the 22-year-old returned from IR with a bang in Week 6, recording six catches for 103 yards and a touchdown on seven targets. Cooper Jr. nearly had a second touchdown as well, if not for a questionable offensive pass interference penalty on fellow Jets wide receiver Tim Patrick that negated the score.
The Jets could get back wide receiver Adonai Mitchell (finger) from a finger injury in Week 7, which could impact Cooper Jr.'s playing time. Still, the rookie wideout looks to have an opportunity to establish himself as the WR2 in New York alongside star Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Where available, Cooper Jr. profiles as a priority waiver wire target for fantasy managers.
Denzel Boston, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Denzel Boston caught just one of his five targets for 15 receiving yards during Sunday's Week 6 win over the Baltimore Ravens. While Cleveland pulled off the upset victory at home, Boston was disappointing as he turned in the worst fantasy performance of his young career. This was the 22-year-old's first game with fewer than 8.0 PPR points, as well as just his second game with fewer than 12.5 PPR points.
Prior to this week, Boston's name was gaining traction in Offensive Rookie of the Year conversations. Sunday's "bust" performance won't eliminate him from consideration for the award, but it definitely represents a stain on his season stat line. He'll look to bounce back in a much more favorable matchup against the Tennessee Titans in Week 7.
Jeremiyah Love, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals rookie first-round running back Jeremiyah Love (ankle) is expected to do some running on Tuesday, head coach Mike LaFleur told Tyler Drake of Arizona Sports. The Cardinals should have a better idea of where he is at and what he will do on Wednesday during the first official practice of the week as the team prepares to face the visiting Denver Broncos in Week 7. A lingering ankle injury kept the Notre Dame product off the field for the Cardinals' surprising Week 6 win over the division-rival Los Angeles Rams on the road.
Tyler Allgeier led the Arizona backfield on Sunday with 18 carries for only 38 yards (2.1 yards per attempt) and caught one of two targets for 10 yards in the passing game. Bam Knight surprisingly had only three fewer carries than Allgeier and was way more productive on the ground, gaining 80 rushing yards and adding two receptions for 18 yards. If Love does enough in practice this week to gain clearance to play in Week 7 versus Denver, he could immediately return and lead the Cardinals' backfield with Allgeier underwhelming.
The No. 3 overall pick in April has been a little underwhelming himself through his first five NFL games, averaging 3.7 yards per carry while rushing for 245 yards and a touchdown on 67 carries. Love has added 11 catches for 36 yards and another score. He still has by far the most short- and long-term fantasy value of anyone in this backfield.
Emmett Johnson, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs running back Emmett Johnson continues to generate some fantasy appeal in deeper leagues, especially after catching two of three targets for 18 receiving yards in Week 6. Although Johnson is averaging just 4.5 fantasy points per game in PPR leagues, his respectable target total can't be ignored. Even more intriguing than his target share, though, is his role as the handcuff behind Kenneth Walker. Walker has been exceptional in a workhorse role this season, ranking as the overall RB2 with 24.0 touches per game.
If Walker were to ever miss time, those would be enormous shoes to fill, leaving Johnson in an immediate fantasy-relevant role. He's a mere stash for now, but he has the potential to be a weekly top-24 running back in the event that Kansas City's primary running back suffers an injury. As a result, Johnson is an intriguing waiver wire target in 12+ team leagues, especially for fantasy managers who already have Walker on their rosters.
