Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 2:
Aaron Jones Sr., Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones Sr. rushed for 40 yards on 12 carries Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, burning his former team by scoring the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. Jones drew one target but did not have a catch. All things considered, Week 1 was still a success for the veteran running back and the Vikings, who lost starting quarterback Kyler Murray (head) fewer than 10 minutes into the game and played the remainder with backup Carson Wentz.
The Vikings trailed by 12 late in the third quarter before rallying for 29 consecutive points in the 39-22 win, with Jones continuing a backfield split with Jordan Mason, who drew 15 carries. The Vikings' running game could be difficult to predict if they stick with an approach that is close to 50-50 between Jones and Mason, but the team also may lean heavily on its backs if Murray misses extended time. Minnesota travels to Chicago in Week 2.
Brian Thomas Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (shoulder) briefly exited Sunday's blowout win over the Browns, but he was able to return to action, and head coach Liam Coen told reporters on Monday that he expects the third-year player to be active for a Week 2 matchup with the Broncos.
Despite the shoulder injury, Thomas caught all three of his targets for 40 yards, and in a potential preview of things to come, quarterback Trevor Lawrence spread the ball around in a game he ended with four touchdowns and only five incompletions. Only Parker Washington earned more than three targets, establishing himself as the clear early-season Jaguars receiver to roster, but Thomas' big-play ability will keep him in the flex conversation as long as he remains healthy.
Marvin Harrison Jr., Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. saw limited targets (three) in the Week 1 season-opening win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday because of how the game unfolded, head coach Mike LaFleur told Tyler Drake of Arizona Sports. "I wouldn't look too much into the targets and all that stuff," LaFleur said.
Harrison had a disappointing season opener despite the Cardinals pulling off the road upset, catching just one of his three targets for 33 yards. Tight end Trey McBride was quarterback Jacoby Brissett's favorite target, as he caught nine of his 13 targets for 95 yards and a touchdown in the 26-14 victory at SoFi Stadium.
The good news for Harrison's fantasy managers is that he was second among the wideouts with a 79% snap share, behind Michael Wilson's 85%. Still, Kendrick Bourne was targeted five more times than Harrison. It is only one week, but the former fourth overall pick from Ohio State is now falling into shaky WR4/flex territory in fantasy with an upcoming Week 2 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday.
Cam Skattebo, New York Giants
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo had 18 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown in the 28-20 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. After missing most of the 2025 season with a significant ankle injury, Skattebo returned and looked strong, breaking multiple tackles and averaging 3.5 yards after contact per carry in Week 1.
Unfortunately, he played only 60% of snaps and ran just nine routes, going without a target for the first time in his NFL career. Without a receiving role, Skattebo could be vulnerable to negative game scripts in the future. The biggest positives are that Skattebo looked healthy and the Giants offense looked fantastic, scoring 28 points and totaling nearly 400 yards. Skattebo will hope for more receiving work in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams and should factor in as a mid-RB2 moving forward.
