Should I start Evan Engram, Dalton Schultz, or Dalton Kincaid for Week 8? Fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks and recommendations for the 2025 NFL season.
There are six teams on bye this week, meaning the pool of available options at tight end is even thinner than usual.
Fantasy managers may need to take chances on more volatile players at tight end this week to fill out their roster.

Should I Start Evan Engram for Fantasy Football?
Engram’s tenure with the Denver Broncos hasn’t started as well as hoped, but there have been positive signs in recent weeks. Over the last four weeks, Engram has averaged 6.8 targets, 4.5 receptions, and 36.5 receiving yards with one touchdown.

Since Week 4, Engram is fourth among all tight ends in targets (25) and seventh in targets per routes run (0.26). Unfortunately, his uptick in target share has not manifested in an explosion of fantasy points based on what he is being asked to do.
Engram is still averaging a 54.9% route share in Denver’s offense, splitting time with Adam Trautman and Nate Adkins. Engram is the TE45 in yards per target (5.84) and the TE18 in fantasy points per game (9.8).
Engram should be considered a high-end TE2 in Week 8 thanks to the number of tight ends who are on bye this week. His workload suggests bigger days ahead, but it is hard to know when that will happen.
Should I Start Dalton Schultz for Fantasy Football?
Schultz is far from a dynamic weapon in the passing attack, but with enough volume, he can be fantasy relevant. Over the last four weeks, Schultz has averaged 7.0 targets, 6.0 receptions, and 56.8 receiving yards per game.
Schultz is coming off his best game of the season, catching nine of 10 targets for 98 yards against the Seattle Seahawks. Most of his damage was done after Nico Collins exited the game with a concussion. That surge in production is the reason to be optimistic about Schultz in Week 8.
Houston is expected to be without both Collins and Christian Kirk in Week 8’s matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. That leaves Schultz as the most experienced and most trusted pass catcher for C.J. Stroud in the middle of the field.
Nobody will confuse Schultz with a dynamic weapon in the passing attack. But with enough volume, he can provide a solid floor for fantasy managers looking for a streamable player. Over the last four weeks, Schultz has been the TE9 in fantasy (12.6 PPG) based purely on volume.
Should I Start Dalton Kincaid for Fantasy Football?
Kincaid is finally flashing the promise that made him a first-round pick in 2023. Kincaid started the season hot, catching 20 of 24 targets for 287 yards and three touchdowns in the first five weeks. Kincaid was the TE3 in fantasy points per game (13.3) during that time.
Unfortunately, Kincaid missed Week 6 with an injury and had his bye week during Week 7, so it has been two weeks since we have seen him play.
Dalton Kincaid is wide open for a Buffalo TD!

Kincaid’s role (49.3% snap share) is concerning, but he’s clearly being targeted when he’s on the field. His role in the red zone also has the potential to lead to boom fantasy weeks.
Kincaid should be viewed as a top 10 tight end going forward if he’s healthy. He could be a weekly top-5 positional player if his role in the offense expands after the bye week.
