Time to Drop Troy Franklin? Fantasy Football Week 6 Waiver Wire Outlook (2025)

Troy Franklin - Fantasy Football Rankings, WR Waiver Wire

Should I drop Troy Franklin for fantasy football Week 6? Is Troy Franklin a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin has not appeared to take over the WR2 job through five games of 2025. Though he had an excellent 24.0 PPR fantasy point performance in Week 2, he hasn't scored double-digit points in any of his other games.

In that contest, he scored his only touchdown of the season and had a few designed touches that helped boost his output. But in his other contests, he hasn't made more than four catches in any game and has had a high of 55 receiving yards.

Franklin continues to lose touches and targets to WR Marvin Mims Jr., and both are working behind Courtland Sutton, who is the obvious Broncos WR1. In addition, tight end Evan Engram scored his first touchdown of the season in Week 5. So, is it time to drop Franklin?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Should I Drop Troy Franklin in Fantasy Football?

After his Week 3 performance, it was probably fine to drop him. After two more subsequent disappointing contests, it makes sense to let him go. It doesn't seem likely that he'll be a fantasy difference-maker, and the only consistently good pass-catcher on the Broncos appears to be Sutton right now.

Franklin does not appear to be in the midst of a Year 2 breakout. They don't have to happen for every player. And it's only his fault. He's made several high-profile blunders, including dropping passes that could have gained a ton of yardage.

Franklin's drop issues date back to college. It's unlikely that the Broncos were unaware of this when they drafted him. But it will be very difficult for him to get more work as long as he can't hang onto passes. And many receivers struggle to catch passes for much of their careers.

Who Should I Pick Up for Fantasy Football?

There are several interesting WRs to take a shot on. Given that you're likely never going to be comfortable putting Franklin in your starting lineup, given his inability to produce so far, you should probably be fine with making dart throws.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce (concussion) is back at practice after missing two games with a head injury. It seems that he's trending toward playing in Week 6. He's Colts quarterback Daniel Jones' favorite deep threat, in part because he doesn't drop the ball before he gets to the end zone like Adonai Mitchell does.

Pierce is tied to a great offense and has great athleticism. He could become a nice big-play threat down the road. Another player you could snag is San Francisco 49ers wideout Kendrick Bourne. He had a big game in Week 5 in the absence of 49ers WRs Ricky Pearsall (knee), Jauan Jennings (ankle/ribs), and Brandon Aiyuk (knee).

Neither Pearsall nor Jennings practiced on Wednesday. Pearsall is expected to miss Week 6. And tight end George Kittle (hamstring) isn't expected to play again until Week 7.
