Alec Bohm Lands on Injured List With Cyst in his Shoulder
Alec Bohm (shoulder) is being placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday due to a cyst in his right shoulder, according to The Athletic's Matt Gelb. In a corresponding move, infielder Otto Kemp was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, and he's playing third and batting ninth in Monday's series opener against the division-rival New York Mets. The Phils also put shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) on the IL, so they are losing the whole left side of their infield right before a crucial divisional series at Citizens Bank Park. Bohm will have an injection in his shoulder and may not be able to return to the Phillies until the playoffs in October. With Edmundo Sosa taking over at short, Kemp should be the team's everyday third baseman for the Phils moving forward. Kemp has hit .228 with four homers and 17 RBI this year in his first 46 MLB games. UPDATE: Bohm is expected to avoid a lengthy IL stint.
