J.J. Wetherholt Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball

After opening the season with Double-A, Wetherholt was recently given the green light to join Triple-A Memphis. Through his first 12 games at the top level of the St. Louis system, Wetherholt has posted an elite .345/.385/.787 slash line with four doubles, one triple, and five home runs,

Over his last six contests, the shortstop has launched four of these long balls while only striking out four times.

Given his elite power production, Wetherholt could quickly prove that he does not need much more development in the minor leagues.

J.J. Wetherholt Outlook for Fantasy Baseball

The No. 18-ranked prospect in the sport on MLB.com made his professional debut with Low-A following the 2024 MLB Draft. Through 29 games, Wetherholt looked quite strong, posting a .295/.405/.400 slash line. During this stretch, Wetherholt held a 15:16 K:BB and added five doubles and two stolen bases.

He opened the 2025 campaign with Double-A Springfield and needed only 62 games to earn the to earn call to Memphis. During his stint at Double-A, the infielder continued to impress, holding a .300/.425/.466 line with seven home runs, 14 stolen bases, and a 40:44 K:BB.

Throughout his time in the minor leagues, Wetherholt has flashed elite hitting skills while showing upside on the basepaths and having a strong eye at the plate. With the Cardinals out of the playoff picture and moving off several veteran players at the deadline, Wetherholt should be in the mix to debut in the coming weeks.

For now, he is worth stashing in all 12+ team formats.
