Matt Vierling Scheduled to Return to The Lineup Wednesday
Matt Vierling (shoulder) was scratched from Sunday's Mud Hens game with an illness and was still feeling it a bit on Tuesday. He's scheduled to return to the Hens Wednesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. Vierling experienced a brief setback in his rehab assignment due to this illness. Still, it does not appear to be anything serious, as he seems ready to return to action on Wednesday. After missing the first eight weeks of the season with a strained rotator cuff, Vierling proceeded to have a setback with the same shoulder in late May and has only had 11 plate appearances thus far with the Tigers in 2025 after slashing .257/.312/.423 last season. Since beginning his rehab assignment on June 13, he has gone 4-for-20 in five games played. It's possible he could join the Tigers as soon as this weekend, but the Tigers may want him to continue to see at-bats, as he has not played a lot thus far this season.
