Alec Burleson Homers, Drives in Three in Win
Alec Burleson was a key contributor in the team's 6-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday. Burleson cracked a two-run homer in the first inning and later chipped in an RBI single in the fifth. He finished the day 2-for-5, extending his hitting streak to nine games. So far in June, Burleson has batted a sizzling .391 (27-for-69) with four homers, 14 RBI, 10 runs, and 7:4 K:BB while taking on an everyday role in the Cardinals' lineup. The club has even been starting the lefty-swinging Burleson against southpaws in recent games. He'll have a tough matchup Sunday with Reds lefty Andrew Abbott scheduled to toe the rubber. Burleson has gone 0-for-6 against Abbott.
