Washington Nationals right-handed reliever Derek Law (forearm) threw a simulated game on Monday and will rejoin the team later this week if he recovers well, according to The Washington Post's Andrew Golden. If Law feels good on Tuesday, he could be cleared to start a minor-league rehab assignment later this week as he recovers from a strained right forearm. The 34-year-old veteran hurler has been out all season, so he'll likely have a lengthy rehab assignment down on the farm. His career-high workload in 2024 of 90 relief innings took a toll on him in his eighth year in the big leagues and first with Washington a year ago. In his 75 outings out of the bullpen, Law had a sharp 2.60 ERA (3.32 FIP), a 1.18 WHIP, one save, a career-high 76 K's and 24 walks. He also had 17 holds. When Law returns, he could return to a key late-inning, high-leverage role by season's end.--Keith Hernandez
