Alex Bowman delivered one of the grittiest performances of his career on Sunday at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, finishing fourth despite being very sore from his crash a week ago at Michigan. Bowman said he felt more pain entering this race than he did after suffering a concussion and a broken back in two previous incidents, which caused him to miss races. Despite his pain, he ran all 100 laps without a relief driver and impressively drove from 29th to fourth. One could even argue it was a more impressive performance than any of his wins. The finish, his best since Homestead 10 races ago, significantly helped him in the playoff race, and he actually moved from 13 points above the playoff cut line to 22, even though Shane van Gisbergen's win moved the cut line up. Bowman also passed Chris Buescher in the points standings, so he continues to remain above the playoff bubble, but he'll still be in trouble if anyone else wins from below the cut line.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
