Matt Vierling Receives Injection, Will Resume Baseball Activities
Matt Vierling (shoulder) received an injection in his ailing right shoulder on Thursday. The 28-year-old is expected to resume baseball activities this weekend. The fifth-year pro had already missed most of the season to this point with shoulder inflammation, returning for four games at the end of May before heading back to the shelf. The fact that he'll resume baseball activities this weekend is a good sign, though, so hopefully the injury doesn't continue to linger. The 6-foot-2 slugger is coming off a season in which he belted 16 home runs and scored 80 runs, plus he is eligible at both 3B and OF, so there is some fantasy intrigue with Vierling, but for now, he's probably best left to the waiver wire.
