Chayce McDermott Recalled, Will Work in Long Relief on Tuesday
Chayce McDermott will serve as a bulk reliever for Tuesday's game against the Brewers after being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk. McDermott made his MLB debut last season, making one start for the team, and was recalled last week for a spot start against Minnesota in which he allowed four earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five in three innings of work. With 144 strikeouts in 100 innings pitched last season at Triple-A (12.96 K/9), there is some intrigue for fantasy, but the Ks come with inflated walk rates (13.7 percent BB% in '24). The Orioles' fourth-ranked prospect can be safely left to the waiver wire for now. Kade Strowd was optioned to Norfolk in a corresponding move.
