Fantasy Baseball Trade Targets - Buy/Sell for Week 3 (2025)

Kyren Paris - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Fantasy baseball trade candidates to buy/sell for Week 3 (2025). Joey's fantasy baseball undervalued players to target in trades, and overvalued to trade away.

It's crazy that we are already two weeks through the fantasy baseball season. It felt like just yesterday we were drafting our teams. But it's at this point in the season where trade talks might start to heat up in your leagues. Many fantasy managers might try to upgrade their team via trades heading into Week 3.

In this article, we will go through five players fantasy managers should be looking to buy/sell ahead of Week 3 (April 14 to April 20). The players to buy on this list are sluggers who are currently undervalued in fantasy, while the players to sell are currently overvalued to begin the season.

So, which players should we buy and sell for Week 3 of the 2025 fantasy baseball season? Let's dive in and find out.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Undervalued Fantasy Baseball Players to Trade For

Freddie Freeman, 1B, Los Angeles Dodgers

It has not been an encouraging start to the year for Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman. He missed both games of the Tokyo series due to rib discomfort and then landed on the injured list soon after due to an ankle injury. That has resulted in Freeman playing in just three of the team's first 14 games.

Anyone who drafted Freeman this year knew that there were some risks involved. He played through a broken rib last postseason and underwent surgery on his ankle in the offseason. The 35-year-old then reaggravated that same surgically repaired ankle following a "mishap" in the shower on March 31. Although the Dodgers didn't immediately place him on IL, they eventually did a few days later to give his ankle more time to rest.

With Freeman battling through a couple of injuries to begin the season, his fantasy value might never be lower. Therefore, try to make a move for him before he is officially activated from the IL later on Friday. The left-handed slugger has been one of the most consistent fantasy options over the last decade, and that won't stop in 2025. He had two home runs, one double, and four RBI in just three games before his injury.

Now, trading for Freeman likely won't be easy, considering he will be activated before Friday's game against the Cubs. However, some fantasy managers might already be frustrated with the eight-time All-Star. That makes him an undervalued player to trade for this early in the year. The veteran has averaged 26 home runs, 42 doubles, and 94 RBI per season over the past four years.

Junior Caminero, 3B, Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero has shown some nice things at the plate in his first few games in 2025. He is slashing .282/.310/.410 with one home run, two doubles, and three RBI across 11 contests. But this is just the start of what Caminero can do in the majors. The sky is the limit for the 21-year-old, and his numbers will only improve as the season progresses

As a result, fantasy managers should be trying to make a move for Caminero heading into Week 3. It's only a matter of time until the home runs start to come, and when they do, his fantasy value will skyrocket. His 78.5 mph bat speed ranks in the 100th percentile, and both his whiff rate (18.4 percent) and strikeout rate (18.4 percent) are encouraging signs for him moving forward.

Caminero definitely has the makings to be a fantasy star, and we could start to see that take shape over the next few weeks. Don't forget, he hit 31 home runs, drove in 94 runs, and had a .324 batting average at High-A and Double-A in the minors in 2023. So, bet on the talent and watch him blossom into a star.

Overvalued Fantasy Baseball Players to Trade Away

Kyren Paris, 2B, Los Angeles Angels

Los Angeles Angels second baseman Kyren Paris is off to a blistering start this year, hitting .393 with five home runs, eight RBI, and four stolen bases through his first 11 games. It has been awesome to watch Paris at the plate to begin the season, and his baseball savant page is full of red. His expected slugging (.773), barrel rate (26.3 percent), and hard-hit rate (63.2 percent) all currently rank in the top three percent of the league.

As a result, we could very well be seeing a breakout campaign from the 23-year-old. Paris worked with Aaron Judge's hitting coach (Richard Schenck) this past offseason, and that has played a big role in his early-season numbers. He is making hard contact while not striking out nearly as much as last year.

However, fantasy managers shouldn't be all in on Paris just yet. His launch angle sweet-spot rate (21.1 percent) and whiff rate (39.6 percent) continue to rank poorly, and his 88.9 mph average exit velocity could hurt his overall numbers as the season progresses. It's only a matter of time until the Angels infielder comes back down to earth.

So, you should take advantage of his hot stretch and look to trade him immediately. Selling him high might be the best long-term move for your fantasy team because what Paris is doing offensively is unsustainable.

Ben Rice, 1B, New York Yankees

Like Paris, New York Yankees first baseman Ben Rice has put up strong numbers to start the season. The left-handed slugger is batting .306 at the plate with three home runs, two doubles, one triple, four RBI, and two stolen bases in his first 11 games. Those stats have made Rice one of the most added players in fantasy over the past week.

There's surely a lot to be optimistic about with the Yankees first baseman. His hard-hit rate (72 percent), expected slugging (.752), squared-up rate (37.5 percent), and chase rate (17.2 percent) all rank in the 95th percentile or better so far this year, and Rice is also drawing walks at a high level (16.3 percent walk rate).

If Rice were guaranteed an everyday role for the rest of the season, then he probably wouldn't have found himself on this list. That doesn't seem to be the case, though. Once Giancarlo Stanton (elbows) returns from the IL sometime in May, there is nowhere for the 26-year-old to play. He has started nine of his 11 games at designated hitter, which is Stanton's position when he returns.

It's obviously tough to sell Rice in fantasy, given the way he is hitting the ball. But with Stanton's return in the next few weeks, the left-handed slugger might spend more time on the bench than on the field. He would be the backup to Stanton at DH, Paul Goldschmidt at first base, and possibly even Austin Wells at catcher.

Therefore, fantasy managers should be looking to sell him high heading into Week 3.

Max Fried, SP, New York Yankees

New York Yankees pitcher Max Fried has looked fantastic in his first three starts with the team. He has allowed just three earned runs across 17 1/3 innings pitched (1.56 ERA) to go with 21 strikeouts and a 1.21 WHIP. His best outing so far came against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday when he threw seven scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts.

Following those three starts, though, Fried is currently a bit overvalued in fantasy leagues. There's no doubt that he has looked great on the mound to begin the season, but he won't be pitching against the Brewers, Pirates, and Tigers all season. Pitching in a tough American League East division and one of the more hitter-friendly ballparks at Yankee Stadium, the southpaw is a sell in fantasy right now.

Even though he only has a 1.56 ERA through his first three starts, opposing hitters have an expected .237 batting average against him. Fried could be in for tougher outings in the next few weeks if that were to continue. The left-hander is set to face the Kansas City Royals in his next start early next week.
