Josh Downs fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 5 (2024). Should you start or sit Josh Downs for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR3 or Flex
ANALYSIS: Josh Downs is a potential starter in deep leagues in Week 5
After starting the year on the sidelines due to injury, Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs has returned to the field. Downs shook off the rust in Week 3 against the Bears, and he had his best game of the season last week against the Steelers, recording eight catches for 82 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' victory.
One reason for Downs' success could be that starting quarterback Anthony Richardson exited the game early, leading to backup QB Joe Flacco taking over. Flacco's accuracy and experience allowed him to spread the ball effectively, and the Colts' playmakers all benefited.

It remains uncertain which quarterback will start for the Colts in their Week 5 matchup against the Jaguars.
Downs deserves consideration for the starting lineup this week. He displayed impressive route running and consistently created separation against favorable matchups. As the team's primary slot receiver, he stands to benefit from the Jaguars' struggles in containing opposing slots. If Flacco is the starter, Downs could be a solid WR3 or Flex option; if Richardson plays, he may be a riskier Flex choice.

As you'll see in this week's Fact or Fiction column, it was a good week to face the Dallas Cowboys defense, though it's kind of always a good week to take on Dallas. The Cowboys' defense has allowed the most passing touchdowns in the league and the second-most passing yards. Additionally, the Dallas run defense […]

The wide receiver position can be volatile at times. A combination of injuries, matchups, changes in week-to-week usage, injuries to other receivers, injuries to quarterbacks, and luck with game scripts can heavily influence their production. In many fantasy leagues, teams on the playoff bubble don't have the luxury of being able to endure low-scoring games […]

Some fantasy managers play in deep leagues. Some are in dynasty leagues with massive starting rosters and benches. Some have redraft leagues with three starting wide receiver spots, or three starting flex spots, and the like. Not every league has the standard lineup of two WRs and one flex spot. So players like San Francisco […]
