Fantasy Football Injury Reports for Tight Ends - Updates for Evan Engram, Trey McBride, George Kittle, David Njoku

Trey McBride - Fantasy Football Rankings, Waiver Wire Pickups, Draft Sleepers, Tight End

Fantasy football injury updates and injury reports for tight ends (Week 4) as of 9/26/2024, including TEs Evan Engram, Trey McBride, George Kittle, David Njoku, and more.

Week 3 finished with the Bills and Commanders picking up wins over their opponents. With Week 4 on the horizon, many of the top tight ends around the National Football League carry an injury designation.

Being up-to-date on NFL injury news can give you an edge over your league mates in fantasy football. Now that the regular season has begun, fantasy managers should stay locked into the latest injury headlines.

Evan Engram Injury Update

Engram injured his hamstring before the Jags' Week 2 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. With the veteran missing the last two games, his status is up in the air for Sunday’s game in Houston.

If he’s not back in the lineup for that one, Brenton Strange would likely remain atop the depth chart. Strange had only had two catches for 12 yards in Monday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Yet, he still had a touchdown, accounting for Jacksonville’s only end-zone trip of the evening. Although most of the tight ends in the league have underperformed, Strange’s production still won’t be enough to earn him a spot in most fantasy lineups.

Hunter Henry Injury Update

Henry had a stellar performance in the overtime loss to the Seahawks, catching eight of his 12 targets for 109 yards. As a result, he was featured in more fantasy lineups than usual in Week 3.

However, the 29-year-old had only two receptions for nine yards in Thursday’s blowout loss to the Jets. Henry was limited in Wednesday’s practice because of an ankle injury. With that in mind, Austin Hooper would presumably take over if Henry isn’t active for Sunday's road game in San Francisco.

With that in mind, the Patriots offense is a mess, so everyone on that side of the ball is hard to trust from a fantasy standpoint.

George Kittle Injury Update

The 49ers were without Kittle for the NFC West showdown with the Rams. The 30-year-old saw limited action in Wednesday’s practice, so the door appears open for his potential return for Sunday’s game versus the Patriots.

But if Kittle and Deebo Samuel Sr. aren’t on the field in Week 4, wideout Jauan Jennings, coming off a mega three-score showing, would be a valuable asset for fantasy managers.

On the other hand, backup tight end Eric Saubert has little-to-no upside from a fantasy perspective if Kittle isn’t in the lineup in Week 4.

Trey McBride Injury Update

McBride was one of the first tight ends off the board during fantasy drafts heading into the 2024-25 campaign. He’s had a decent season, amassing 14 receptions for 122 yards.

Unfortunately, McBride suffered a concussion versus the Lions. He didn’t participate in Wednesday’s practice, which isn’t a good sign. But if he can at least log a limited session on Thursday or Friday, then he has a chance to play in Week 4 against the Commanders.

However, if McBride sits out, Elijah Higgins may enter the starting lineup. Yet, it would likely be Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Wilson, and Greg Dortch getting extra attention from Kyler Murray.

David Njoku Injury Update

Njoku continues to work his way back from an ankle injury that forced his premature exit in Week 1. He has missed the last two games as a result.

At the same time, the 28-year-old wasn’t on the practice field on Wednesday, so he may not be ready to return in Week 4 versus the Raiders. If that’s the case, Jordan Akins would take his spot in the lineup.

While Akins had his best showing of the season in Week 3 against the New York Giants, totaling four catches for 29 yards, he will probably remain a free agent in most fantasy leagues if Njoku is ruled out again.
