MLB DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/8/24) - Today's Top Lineups

gleyber torres fantasy baseball rankings draft sleepers shortstop MLB injury news

Free daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for today's slate on DraftKings, FanDuel. Use Euan's MLB DFS expert picks to build winning DFS lineups on August 8, 2024.

Happy Thursday, RotoBallers! In classic MLB fashion, they've split the schedule into two five-game slates. This article will focus on the evening slate beginning at 7:05 p.m. EDT when the Angels wrap up its series in New York against the Yankees.

Kevin Gausman is one of the most expensive pitchers among tonight's five games, but DFS managers have to be careful because he's facing a stacked Baltimore lineup. It feels like the O's have a never-ending assembly line of top prospects. The lineup card includes Colton Cowser, Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson, Jackson Holliday, and Coby Mayo. DFS managers should be wary of any pitcher with Baltimore on their upcoming schedule.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/8/2024 and the slate locking at 7:05 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Bryan Woo - RHP, SEA vs. Tigers ($9.0K DraftKings; $9.4K FanDuel)

While the strikeouts have left Bryan Woo's arsenal in 2024, everything else looks good under the hood. A 2.08 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, and a 27.6% CSW% lead every pitcher on tonight's five-game slate. More importantly, the Mariners righty is getting stronger as the season rolls along. In his last start, Woo went seven innings for the first time in 2024 and struck out six hitters for the first time since June 6. Detroit offers the 24-year-old hurler a chance to continue making progress thanks to their sixth-worst wOBA (.299) against RHPs over the last month.

Nestor Cortes - RHP, NYY vs. Angels ($7.9K DK; $8.0K FD)

It's not ideal to roster Nestor Cortes on FanDuel when DFS managers only need to start one pitcher, but it saves players a fair bit of cash for the rest of the lineup. On DraftKings, Cortes is a fine SP2 because the Angels really struggle against left-handed pitching. Since July 9, the Angels sport the third-lowest OPS (.625) and wOBA (.275) versus southpaws. Unfortunately, their lack of hitting doesn't translate to strikeouts, but if the Yankees lefty can get through six clean innings with a couple of strikeouts, he is well worth his Thursday price.

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Josh Bell - 1B, ARI vs. Kolby Allard ($3.5K DK; $2.9K FD)

With Christian Walker (oblique) on the sidelines, Josh Bell has stepped into the vacant first base position. The switch-hitting veteran was acquired at the deadline from Miami and is scorching hot to begin his time in the desert. Through six games with the Diamondbacks, Bell is batting .269 with five runs, five RBI, a triple, and four home runs. The 31-year-old is hitting behind Corbin Carroll, Ketel Marte, and Joc Pederson, and that means plenty of RBI-producing opportunities for Bell until Walker returns off the IL.

Gleyber Torres - 2B, NYY vs. Tyler Anderson ($3.5K DK; $2.6K FD)

With a left-handed Tyler Anderson on the mound for the Angels, the Yankees will move Gleyber Torres to the top of the lineup. The second baseman usually sits in the lower half of the batting card for the pinstripes, but an elevated lineup spot makes him a terrific value on Thursday's slate. It hasn't been all sunshine and lollipops for Torres in 2024, but he has a hit in 12 of 15 games since the All-Star break, along with three doubles and two home runs.

Coby Mayo - 3B, BAL vs. Kevin Gausman ($2.1K DK; $2.3K FD)

Coby Mayo doesn't have a hit in his first four major league starts. Almost every, if not every, MLB player will go four games without a hit at some point in their career. Regardless, Mayo remains a great DFS play because he offers managers a route into that Baltimore lineup at a highly discounted price tag. He received a day off on Tuesday and was back in the lineup last night. The Orioles will give him at least a couple of weeks to find his footing before they think of demoting him, so DFS managers should continue to smash him in their lineups.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Joc Pederson - OF, ARI vs. Kolby Allard ($4.6K DK; $3.2K FD)

Hot-hitting outfielders are all the rage this week. Many managers will flock to Kyle Schwarber on the bench opposite Joc Pederson, but the Diamondbacks slugger can save DFS players a significant chunk of their salary. $800 on DK and $700 on FD can go a long way. Pederson has a hit in 11 of 12 starts since the All-Star break. He's also smashed a double, a triple, and five home runs in that same span. The 32-year-old also gets the lefty-on-righty matchup while Schwarber faces a fellow lefty in Jordan Montgomery.

Nick Castellanos - OF, PHI at Jordan Montgomery ($3.8K DK; $3.0K FD)

Arizona is sending left-handed Jordan Montgomery to the mound on Thursday. Therefore, Nick Castellanos will move up a little in the Phillies lineup. This only boosts the outfielder's DFS prospects as he's heating up. The former Cincinnati Red has three consecutive multi-hit efforts under his belt and has a .945 OPS over his last six games.

Luke Raley - OF/1B, SEA vs. Kenta Maeda ($3.7K DK; $2.9K FD)

Another platoon bat with a favorable matchup who deserves a look for Thursday's DFS slate is Luke Raley. The Mariner's first baseman also carries the outfielder designation on DK and FD, so managers should feel free to play him wherever he fits. Over the last two weeks, Raley touts a .873 OPS powered by a sky-high .565 slugging. It's a little expensive for a boom-or-bust play, but his previous three hits have all gone for extra bases and produced an RBI.
