Welcome back RotoBallers to my top 100 fantasy baseball prospect rankings, freshly updated for August 2024. For those who are not familiar, I will be releasing monthly updates to my fantasy baseball dynasty prospect rankings here on RotoBaller along with my notes on risers and fallers.
Both the minor leagues and the MLB are well underway now, and it is a full go for the 2024 fantasy baseball season! After a full offseason of work, spending time on backfields, in minor league camps, watching video, and diving in on advanced data, I have made several refinements to my fantasy baseball prospects rankings. These rankings are helpful when evaluating players both for redraft and dynasty leagues and can help give you an edge in any format.
This specific set of prospect rankings can be used for any fantasy format, with the focus being on a player's potential for fantasy leagues long term. We hope that at RotoBaller we can help make you a champion in both dynasty and redraft formats. Top Fantasy Baseball Prospect Risers
Leo De Vries has been one of the hotter-hitting prospects in baseball over the last month. Did we mention he is 17 years old and playing in full-season professional baseball? Posting an impressive .284/.407/.598 slash with eight home runs and 15 extra-base hits in his last 25 games certainly earns him a rise up the rankings.
Under the hood, things stand out with exit velocities that are elite compared to players his age and pretty close to the MLB average already. The contact skills are good, and De Vries does not expand the zone often. He lifts the ball with ease and looks the part of an impressive athlete. This could be a future No. 1 overall prospect.
Brandon Sproat continues to dominate and has worked himself into the conversation for the top pitching prospect in the game. For me, he lands as the fourth-best pitching prospect only behind Noah Schultz, Jackson Jobe, and Andrew Painter.
In 87.2 innings this season, Sproat has a 2.05 ERA with 110 strikeouts to 31 walks. The fastball sits 97 mph with good life, and he locates it well. He dumps in a shorter sweeping slider in the mid-80s that misses bats at a high clip, and Sproat also drops in a changeup and curveball.
Emil Morales is the next Dodgers international prospect to take off. In the DSL this season, he is slashing .333/.480/.674 with 12 home runs and 10 stolen bases. This factors in a slow start to the season. On June 25, Morales hit his first two home runs of the season, and all 12 home runs have been since that date. Over that span, he has an impressive .375/.527/.913 slash line with more walks than strikeouts. Buy now before it is too late.
