MLB Pitcher Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks

Eduardo Rodriguez OVER 5.5 strikeouts (-128 FanDuel Sportsbook)

Eduardo Rodriguez makes his first start for the Tigers after not waiving his no-trade clause in a deal that would have sent him to the Dodgers. Rodriguez has been elite this season. He has a 3.73 SIERA, 25.9% K%, 6.0% BB%, and a 10.9% SwStr%. He has been even better over his last six starts. He has a 3.54 SIERA, 28.1% K%, 6.5% BB%, and a 12.1% SwStr% in that span. E-Rod has reached the six-strikeout mark in nine of his 15 starts this season, including seven of his last nine.

The most intriguing part here is his matchup. The Pirates have been abysmal as of late and often have been a target of mine in all betting markets. The Buccos own a 23.3% K%, 93 wRC+, .311 wOBA, and a .380 SLG against left-hand pitching. Since July 1, they have held a 25.3% K%, 66 wRC+, .271 wOBA, and a .299 SLG against the split. I love this spot here for E-Rod to get his over in strikeouts, and I wouldn’t mind a ladder over on FanDuel up to nine or ten strikeouts.

Zack Wheeler OVER 6.5 strikeouts (-138 FanDuel SportsBook)

Zack Wheeler is a steal tonight and in a perfect ladder spot for the Phillies against the Marlins. On the season, Wheeler owns a 3.37 SIERA, 27.9% K%, 4.6% BB%, and 12.7% SwStr%. He has rounded into form as of late. Over his last six starts, Wheeler has been elite. He has a 2.83 SIERA, 31.1% K%, 2.6% BB%, and a 12.8% SwStr%. He has seven or more strikeouts in five of those starts, including 11 his last time out.

The Marlins have been a tough matchup for strikeouts all season long. On the season, they own a 21.6% K% against right-hand pitching. Here's why I love this spot for Wheeler. The Marlins were very active at the deadline, although I believe their lineup improved. It also should increase in K%. New addition Jake Burger has a 31.8% K% which will be the second-highest mark behind Jazz Chisholm Jr., and his 32.2% K%, who has missed most of the season. The current lineup has a 23.1% K% against the split and would be much higher if you take out Luis Arraez and his 4.2% K%. I love this spot for Wheeler tonight.

MLB Hitter Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks

SGP Manny Machado+ Garrett Cooper to record a hit (TBD DraftKings SportsBook)

Over the last few weeks, I provided you with some hit parlays. Honestly, it's been a blast betting and has been very profitable. I will make this a constant theme in my articles for the rest of the season. I like giving you guys different looks on how to bet instead of writing up the everyday props like always. You can always take either of the two guys below for their total bases prop to get a better line.

Kyle Freeland will get the ball for the Rockies against the Padres. Freeland has a .291 BAA on the season. Over his last six starts, he allowed seven or more hits in five of those outings. He has allowed nine or more hits in three of those outings. He has allowed a .253 BAA against lefties this season and a .303 BAA against righties. We will be attacking him today with two right-handed bats who rake lefties.

Manny Machado is the best right-handed bat in this lineup against left-hand pitching. He has a .330 AVG against the split this season. Machado has a hit in eight of his last ten games. Garrett Cooper was added at the deadline from the Marlins. He is hitting .348 on the year against lefties, which now leads the Padres right-handed bats. The line for Cooper has not been posted. If he is not in the lineup, I would swap him for Ha-Seong Kim, who is scorching hot against left-handed pitching.
