PrizePicks PGA DFS Prop Picks - Over/Under Props for the U.S. Open (Round 2)

dustin johnson PGA DFS lineup picks daily fantasy golf advice

Welcome to our PrizePicks PGA DFS prop picks for the U.S. Open (Round 2). The golf season is in full swing, and PrizePicks has an extensive selection of props for us to take advantage of! PrizePicks is a great DFS props site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or singular stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.

Our partners at PrizePicks offer some of the best and easiest-to-win PGA DFS games in the industry. There are no large-field tournaments filled with sharks where you have to get lucky just to place. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money. With promo code 'BALLER' you can get a 100% match on your deposit of up to $100.

This week, we're at Los Angeles Country Club for the first time ever for the U.S. Open! LACC played easier than expected on day one, giving up multiple rounds of eight-under-par 62s and failing to produce a single round in the 80s for the first time ever at a U.S. Open. That said, the course should be primed to show its teeth over the next three days. I and the entire Rotoballer PGA staff have put out 1,000s of words on the course, key stats, and field this week, so this article won't be focused on the minutiae of projecting outright winners or DFS pivot plays. Instead, I'll be solely focused on a few money-making opportunities I've found in PrizePicks' unique markets to help you build your bankroll as the PGA Tour season gets into full swing! Today's plays are specifically for round two on Friday, June 16th.

Single Stat PGA Totals - DFS Prop Picks

PrizePicks prop totals are not always available first thing in the morning, so check back during the day as other props may be added during the day.

Dustin Johnson LESS than 69.5 Strokes

Dustin Johnson shot a six-under-par 64 in round one and finished tied for third in the field in strokes gained total. DJ was in total control of his game ranking fourth in strokes gained off the tee and third in the field in strokes gained on approach for round one. Johnson didn't seem to have many problems all day until a bad tee shot on his final hole of the day. I would expect much of the same from the former U.S. Open champion today.

While the course will undoubtedly continue to play harder as the week goes on because of firmness and pin placements, I still think we will see some good scores today. Much of the defense of Los Angeles Country Club is the firmness of the course and the morning tee time today for Johnson will help in that department. If anything, I believe we will start to see some big numbers this afternoon. This morning will be as gettable as we will see the course for the rest of the week and I expect the veteran to try to take advantage.

Dustin Johnson has six career top tens at the U.S. Open in his career and knows how to work his way around a course set up by the USGA. I believe that we will see Johnson back in contention over the weekend. I expect him to shoot somewhere around a 67 today so the 69.5 feels safe.

Dustin Johnson MORE than 4.0 Birdies or Better

As you read above, Dustin Johnson was in complete control of his game during round one and looks to continue where he left off in round two. Johnson finished round one with SEVEN birdies or better on the day and the opportunity to make a few more. The 4 Aces captain finished day one ranked 85th in the field in putting, gaining just 0.01 strokes on the green. Producing seven birdies on an average putting day is scary stuff for the rest of the field.

In addition to Johnson not fully cashing in on his tee-to-green game with the putter, I believe Los Angeles Country Club is a course that gives up a good amount of birdies. Despite it being a U.S. Open, we saw multiple players shoot 62, and thirteen players shoot -3 or better. Sure there are bogeys out there if you make mistakes, but for the purposes of this prop, we don't care about possible bogeys. All three par-5s looked to be pretty scorable and quite a few other holes seemed to yield a good amount of birdies. If Johnson continues to drive the ball in the fairway and take care of the par-5s, this should be an easy hit.

Viktor Hovland MORE Birdies or Better than Xander Schauffele

Viktor Hovland finished an up-and-down round one at -1. Meanwhile, Xander Schauffele coasted to a U.S. Open record-tying round of -8. Schauffele's low scoring round one is exactly why I like this bet. All but six guys in the field are five or more strokes back from him already. He doesn't need to go out and try to put up a 62 and get super aggressive. Xander will most likely take a more conservative approach to the way that he plays today and aim at the center of greens and try to take advantage of the par-5s. If he finishes today one or two under he will be ecstatic.

Viktor Hovland on the other hand is seven shots back of Schauffele and will have to play a little more aggressively. We know that Hovland likes the big events when the conditions get tougher and can thrive in these situations. We saw him go head to head with Brooks Koepka at the PGA Championship and play with no fear on his way to winning the Memorial just a few weeks ago. I expect Hovland to come out firing today. I'm sure some bogeys will come into play as a result of this approach but for purposes of this prop, it doesn't matter.

Other Recommendations

  • Justin Thomas MORE than 71.5 Strokes
  • Cameron Smith LESS than 9.5 Fairways Hit
