Chris Bassitt looked to finally be back on track after allowing nine earned runs in his first start of the year against the Cardinals. He’s now put together four consecutive quality starts, going six-plus innings in each.
Since Bassitt’s Tommy John surgery in May of 2016, the righty has been relatively healthy. However, in 2021, he got hit with a comebacker and partially fractured his skull which was a very scary scene but not an occurrence we could've seen coming. He eventually returned a month later to finish out the season for Oakland.

Chris Bassitt Injury Update
Bassitt has a season-long ERA of 4.82 but has put together a 2.19 ERA with 21 strikeouts in his last four outings. These four outings have been paired with two earned runs or fewer over 24.2 innings pitched.
On Monday night, Bassitt was removed from his start versus the White Sox after bouncing a pitch to Luis Robert Jr. He immediately motioned for the Blue Jays trainer to come out and was pulled, mid-batter, after 6.1 IP with four strikeouts. He was removed with right lower back tightness.
The Toronto free agent acquisition told reporters that he plans to make his next start and won’t even miss a bullpen in preparation. Time will tell as we continue to monitor his status throughout the weekend.
Chris Bassitt Fantasy Baseball Outlook
Bassitt is tentatively lined up to face the Mariners on Sunday, April 30th if his bullpen session goes as planned. The Blue Jays and fantasy managers hope his early exit to Monday's game was purely precautionary.
With a clean track record and positive reports, we can only wait and see his availability for this weekend's series versus Seattle. Fantasy managers will have to monitor his status and hope for no setbacks during his bullpen sessions leading up to his weekend start.
Injuries of this sort can be tricky to deal with depending on the severity and history of the issue. With no reports of back injuries in the past, things look to be headed in a positive direction.
