Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 14:
Brenton Strange, TE, Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Brenton Strange has been a major spark for the Jaguars since his return in Week 13. In his last two games, he's hauled in eight of nine targets for 138 yards and a touchdown. After being placed on the injured reserve with a hip injury suffered in Week 5, Strange has reminded Jacksonville how valuable he is. When Strange is active, the Jags are 6-1, and without him, they are 2-3.
Despite crowded competition for targets with Brian Thomas Jr. and Jakobi Meyers, Strange has a clear role in this offense and a strong connection with quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The Jaguars host the Indianapolis Colts in Week 14, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points to tight ends this season. Fantasy managers can rely on Strange as a starting option in Week 14, who will look to help the Jaguars to an outright lead in the AFC South.
Darren Waller, TE, Dolphins
Miami Dolphins tight end Darren Waller (pectoral) returned from a pectoral injury that caused him to miss more than a month in Week 13, recording two catches for 47 yards on three targets against the New Orleans Saints. Waller has appeared in just five games this season due to multiple injuries, but he's recorded four touchdown catches in that span. The Dolphins limited Waller to a 47% snap share in Week 13, which is a trend that may continue given the 33-year-old's extensive injury history.
However, Waller has proven to be a red-zone target for Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, which gives him streamer appeal for fantasy managers at the tight end position. In fantasy leagues with 12 or more teams, Waller could be worth targeting on the waiver wire as a streamer or injury replacement heading into a Week 14 matchup against the New York Jets.
Zach Ertz, TE, Commanders
Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz had a huge game in Week 13, recording 10 catches for 106 yards on 13 targets in an overtime loss to the Denver Broncos. Across 12 games this season, the 35-year-old has hauled in 49 catches for 493 yards and four touchdowns on 70 targets. It's worth noting that Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota attempted 50 passes in Week 13, a level of pass volume that is highly unlikely to repeat in future weeks.
However, Washington could be getting quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow) back as soon as Week 14, which would be a boost for Ertz. All four of Ertz's four touchdown receptions this season have come in the six games Daniels has been healthy for. The Commanders will face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14. In leagues where he is available on the waiver wire, Ertz could be a solid streaming option for fantasy managers to target at the tight end position.
Colby Parkinson, TE, Rams
Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson's three-game touchdown streak came to an end in Sunday's 31-28 loss to the Carolina Panthers, but he's held steady as the team's top tight end over the past few weeks with Tyler Higbee (ankle) on Injured Reserve. Parkinson still tied for second on the team with receiver Davante Adams in targets during Sunday's game, recording four receptions for 27 yards on five targets.
The 26-year-old trails only the Rams' big three of Puka Nacua, Adams, and Kyren Williams in snap share (61.3%) since Week 9 and has been productive in that time, totaling 16 receptions (18 targets) for 133 yards and three touchdowns. Parkinson is a touchdown-dependent fantasy option, but he's been a quality streamer in a potent Rams passing attack. He's a worthwhile waiver-wire addition ahead of Week 14's matchup against the division-rival Arizona Cardinals.
Isaiah Likely, TE, Ravens
Baltimore Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely posted his most productive performance of the season in Week 13, recording five catches for 95 yards on six targets against the Cincinnati Bengals. However, the 25-year-old was also responsible for one of the turning points in the game when he coughed up a fumble as he was crossing the goal line, turning a touchdown into a touchback. Still, Likely's increased involvement is a positive sign for fantasy managers.
Although he's failed to find the end zone so far this season, Likely recorded six touchdowns on 58 targets across 16 games in 2024 and has shown stretches of red zone chemistry with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson throughout his career. The presence of tight ends Mark Andrews and Charlie Kolar in Baltimore limits Likely's upside, as he's played fewer than 60% of the team's offensive snaps in six straight games heading into his Week 14 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
However, in deep fantasy leagues, Likely may be worth stashing off the waiver wire in case an injury to Andrews opens up a significant playing time opportunity in Baltimore.
