Who Should I Start for Fantasy Football Week 12? Rachaad White, Raheem Mostert, Brian Robinson Jr., Ameer Abdullah, Gus Edwards

Raheem Mostert - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Who should I start for Week 12? Fantasy football outlooks for Rachaad White, Raheem Mostert, Brian Robinson Jr., Ameer Abdullah, Gus Edwards.

The running back position makes or breaks many fantasy teams. Dud games from RBs, who are typically supposed to provide a safe floor, especially in PPR leagues, can crush your chances of winning your week or even making the playoffs. Evaluating which ones to start is extremely important.

Five commonly rostered backs in 2024 are Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White, Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert (hip), Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr., Las Vegas Raiders running back Ameer Abdullah (okay, maybe not him), and Los Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards.

So, which should you start, and which should be put on the bench in your fantasy leagues? Let's dive in.

Should I Start Rachaad White for Fantasy Football?

Yes. The pass-catching upside is too great to ignore, and he's been a big part of the offense in recent games. He may not have the ceiling he had the previous few games in Week 11, though. The probable return of wide receiver Mike Evans (hamstring) should create changes for the offense.

The above poster is a bit high on him but is helpful in evaluating his past few games. Tampa Bay's offense has focused on getting the ball to its running backs and tight end Cade Otton due to the absence of its top-2 wideouts. Evans should become a target hog upon his return and cut into the receiving work of the two backs, White and RB Bucky Irving.

Still, it's a good idea to start White, especially in PPR leagues.

Should I Start Raheem Mostert for Fantasy Football?

No. He should get put on the bench. Ever since fumbling the ball in Week 9, he's carried the ball just three times for -2 yards. It was frustrating for managers of RB De'Von Achane to see Mostert getting goal-line carries in Week 11, but he actually lost yardage on them. He also wasn't targeted in that game.

It's clear that head coach Mike McDaniel trusts Achane, and Mostert's ineffectiveness has led to a big cut in playing time. That's unlikely to change in the short term. Bench Mostert this week.

Should I Start Brian Robinson Jr. for Fantasy Football?

Yes. He should be started in every game he plays in. He's healthy now and has scored double-digit PPR fantasy points in all but one of the games he's played. Even when his quarterback, Jayden Daniels, is suffering from a rib injury, you can trust Robinson and the running schemes of offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.

This is a no-brainer. Start him.

Should I Start Ameer Abdullah for Fantasy Football?

No. The Raiders run game (and the entire offense outside of tight end Brock Bowers) has been abysmal all year. They rank last in the league in team rushing yards per attempt by a significant margin -- they average just 3.5 yards per carry, 0.3 yards less than the next-lowest team.

If RB Alexander Mattison (ankle) doesn't play on Sunday, Abdullah will be a desperation start in the deepest of leagues, but without receiving work or a lucky touchdown, it's hard to see him being productive enough to justify starting him in fantasy leagues. He should be benched or left in free agency.

Should I Start Gus Edwards for Fantasy Football?

It's not a good idea. He should be treated simply as the handcuff for lead back J.K. Dobbins, who is clearly the main guy in Los Angeles. Edwards hasn't even gotten goal-line opportunities, which is somewhat strange since he weighs 238 pounds and rushed for 13 touchdowns just a year ago.

It seems that the Chargers coaching staff doesn't trust him fully because even when he plays reasonably well, he's not given much volume. It could also be since Dobbins is that much better, but giving third-string RB Hassan Haskins carries near the end zone over the Gus Bus is odd. Edwards should remain on benches or free agency and not start this week.
