Despite quarterback instability, Garrett Wilson has had back-to-back, 1,000-yard seasons, carrying a solid WR2 value heading into 2025 drafts. In what was expected to be a bounce-back year for the franchise, he was projected to be the Jets' top offensive weapon.

Garrett Wilson Injury Update
Following the Week 6 matchup against the Denver Broncos, Wilson underwent an MRI, revealing a hyperextended knee. The injury occurred when he landed awkwardly after attempting to make a catch, getting hit while trying to secure the ball, and twisting his body in ways bodies aren't supposed to.
Wilson missed the Jets' Week 7 matchup against the Carolina Panthers and their Week 8 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. With the Jets on their Week 9 bye, he will have additional recovery time.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Wilson was initially expected to miss "a couple of weeks" with the hyperextension. The good news is that the MRI revealed no structural damage to the knee, avoiding a worst-case scenario that could have ended his season.
All signs point to Wilson returning in Week 10 when the Jets face the Cleveland Browns, aligning with the original timeline reported after the injury occurred.
Garrett Wilson Fantasy Football Outlook
Through the first six games of the season, Wilson was the Jets' only bright spot on offense. He led the team with 36 receptions for 395 yards and four touchdowns on 56 targets, approximately 30% of the team's targets.

In Week 6 against Denver, the Jets finished with -10 net passing yards after quarterback Justin Fields was sacked nine times for 55 yards while throwing for just 45 yards. Wilson managed only three catches for 13 yards on eight targets against elite corner Patrick Surtain II before exiting with the injury.
During Wilson's two-game absence, no other wide receiver on the Jets' roster has had more than 10 catches or 100 receiving yards. Josh Reynolds, the team's WR2, has just eight catches for 72 yards. Tight end Mason Taylor (177 yards) and running back Breece Hall (150 yards) have been the next-most productive pass-catchers, highlighting the complete lack of depth at wide receiver.
The Jets' quarterback situation remains uncertain, adding another layer of complexity to Wilson's fantasy outlook. QB Fields continues to struggle, failing to push the ball downfield or progress through his reads effectively. The team has considered making a change at the position, though backup Tyrod Taylor also dealt with injuries during Wilson's absence.
When Wilson returns in Week 10, he should immediately resume his role as the Jets' unquestioned WR1 and primary receiving threat. Despite the team's 0-6 record and offensive dysfunction, Wilson's elite talent and massive target share make him a must-start fantasy option in all formats.
