Welcome back to our top starting pitcher fantasy baseball prospects to stash for Week 20 of the 2025 MLB season. This past week, we saw Logan Henderson get the call and then, unfortunately, hit the 15-day IL with a shoulder injury.

With Henderson now off the stash list, we will have a new pitcher take a spot on the list, who is the only southpaw in this week's column.

Andrew Painter, Philadelphia Phillies

Currently At Triple-A

With Henderson back in the big leagues, Andrew Painter reclaims the spot at the top of the stash list. While Painter's last start was quite uninspiring, fantasy managers should not be overly concerned with his rest of the season outlook. In this outing, the right-hander allowed five hits and five earned runs across four innings of work against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He walked four hitters and only struck out four.

Despite the poor results on the stat sheet, seeing Painter continue to work out his struggles is what fantasy managers need to see. There is no doubt about his talent. The only concern we have with Painter is his ability to take on a larger workload, especially after he underwent Tommy John and was shut down for two full seasons.

Before this rough showing, Painter logged at least five innings in each of his first five starts, and even went six innings deep in each of them. During these two outings, where he logged at least six innings, Painter held a strong 2.19 ERA with a stellar 1.05 WHIP.

Overall, through his first 72 innings at the top level of the Philadelphia system, the former first-round pick has posted a 4.88 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP. During this stretch, he has struck out 71 hitters. Before moving up to Triple-A, Painter was sent on a brief rehab assignment at Low-A, where he struck out 12 hitters across 11 1/3 innings of work.

With the Phillies in the heat of the playoff race, Painter should be in the mix in the coming weeks to strengthen their organization. Despite his inconsistency at Triple-A, he will be a must-start pitcher when he gets the call due to his strikeout upside alone.

Bubba Chandler, Pittsburgh Pirates

Currently At Triple-A

As always, sitting in the No. 2 spot in the Pittsburgh Pirates is Bubba Chandler. However, unlike Painter, Chandler enjoyed a strong outing in his last start and was able to bounce back following his five-run explosion on July 30. In his last start, the right-hander allowed just three runs across 4 2/3 innings against Omaha. He struck out seven hitters and served up just one walk.

Since the start of June, the right-hander has been unable to find much consistency at Triple-A. During these 44 innings of work, Chandler has posted a 5.52 ERA with a hefty 1.75 WHIP. He has served up 25 free passes and only struck out 44 hitters. However, before this rough skid, Chandler appeared to be on the verge of a promotion as he was flashing immense upside at Triple-A.

During his first 48 2/3 innings of the campaign, the right-hander posted an elite 2.03 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP. He tallied 69 strikeouts while allowing a mere 21 walks. Throughout this dominant stretch, he only allowed two total home runs.

Even though it seems that Chandler has been knocking on the MLB door since April, he remains a strong stash option in deeper 12+ team formats. When he does earn the call, he will carry a must-start upside given his ability to rack up strikeouts.

With Bailey Falter being traded before the deadline, Chandler could be up in Pittsburgh in the coming weeks.

Nolan McLean, New York Mets

Currently At Triple-A

Nolan McLean continued to impress this past week and is quickly approaching his MLB debut. On August 5, the rising star in the Mets system tossed 5 2/3 shutout innings with three walks and seven strikeouts. He allowed just one hit.

Since serving up six runs on July 18, McLean has been quite sharp, logging 19 innings to the tune of a 1.89 ERA, 0.74 WHIP, and a 19:6 K:BB.

Before that one rough outing, McLean tossed back-to-back games with double-digit strikeouts, suggesting that when he is settled in, his upside is quite high. McLean actually opened the season at the Double-A level, but did not need much time to prove he was ready to join the top ranks of the Mets team. At Double-A, McLean posted an impressive 1.37 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP through 26 2/3 innings.

Then at Triple-A Syracuse, McLean has continued to look sharp, holding an overall 2.81 ERA with a strong 1.09 WHIP across 83 1/3 innings of work.

The former third-round pick has proven himself more than capable of joining the MLB rotation. Given the Mets' recent struggles, McLean could provide a much-needed spark to the ballclub, as well as the next name on our list.

Brandon Sproat, New York Mets

Currently At Triple-A

The former second-round pick was a feature in my column during the opening weeks of the season as he almost made a case to make the MLB rotation out of spring training. However, the Mets opted to send him back to Triple-A to work out the finishing touches on his development. Sproat got off to a rough start, which quickly tanked his short-term outlook.

Through his first 63 innings of the season at Syracuse, Sproat posted a high 6.9 ERA with a 1.57 WHIP. During this stretch, the right-hander tallied only 43 strikeouts and allowed a high 33 walks. However, since the end of June, the 24-year-old has made the necessary adjustments and is once again living up to his former prospect pedigree.

Over his last 39 innings of work, Sproat has posted an impressive 1.15 ERA with a 0.82 WHIP. During this dominant run, Sproat has struck out 43 hitters while allowing only 13 free passes.

Like his teammate McLean, he can provide a much-needed spark to a slumping Mets team. He is worth stashing in deeper formats for the time being.

Robby Snelling, Miami Marlins

Currently At Triple-A

Rounding out this list is a new name, left-hander Robby Snelling. After opening the season at the Double-A level, the southpaw has been nothing short of impressive since moving up to Triple-A Jacksonville.

Throughout its first five starts at the Triple-A level (27 2/3 innings), Snelling has posted an impressive 1.63 ERA with a stellar 0.98 WHIP. During this stretch, the left-hander has tallied 34 strikeouts and shown elite control, allowing only five walks.

He has tallied at least 11 strikeouts in two of his last three outings.

During the first half of the season with Double-A, Snelling was solid but not as dominant as he is now, as he held a 3.61 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP through 72 1/3 innings of work.

With the Marlins clawing their way back into the NL Wild Card race, what better way to bolster this rotation than by promoting one of their top performers in the minor leagues? Given that he has a viable path to join Miami in the near future, he is worth a spot on your roster in deeper 12+ team leagues going forward.
