Should I Start Kareem Hunt, Zay Flowers, Jakobi Meyers for Week 7? Fantasy football start em, sit em picks and recommendations for the 2023 NFL season.
As we get ready for the Sunday slate of Week 7, we wanted to look at some fantasy players who might be in some tougher spots this week and leave fantasy managers second-guessing what to do with them in their lineups.
We’ll take a look at Kareem Hunt who’s beginning to carve out a role for himself in the Browns backfield, Zay Flowers who’s going up against a Detroit Lions defense that has surpassed expectations this season, and Jakobi Meyers who will be squaring off against the Bears without his starting quarterback.

Should I Start Kareem Hunt for Fantasy Football?
Hunt finds himself reacclimating into a role in his second stint with the Browns and had his most successful outing this season when he ran the ball 12 times for 47 yards and a touchdown in an upset win against the San Francisco 49ers.
Now, he’ll be facing an Indianapolis Colts defense that falls somewhere in the middle of the pack in defending the run. Indy allows 113.5 rushing yards per game, which ranks them 14th in the league through six weeks.
Despite the okay matchup for Hunt, he is still playing second fiddle to fellow backfield member RB Jerome Ford. This was shown in Week 6’s outing as Ford out-touched Hunt by a margin of 17-12.
In addition to his lack of guaranteed volume, Hunt also finds himself with a Questionable tag ahead of Sunday’s matchup. Hunt has been dealing with a thigh injury and practiced in a limited fashion on both Thursday and Friday. Reports would indicate that the veteran running back is a true 50/50 ahead of his Week 7 matchup.
If Hunt is active, he is not a strong play in Week 7. He is currently the RB33 in our half-PPR consensus staff rankings.
Should I Start Zay Flowers for Fantasy Football?
Flowers has been an incredibly exciting pickup for a Baltimore Ravens squad that was desperately looking to revamp their wide receiver room. The rookie impressed fantasy managers last week, scoring his first career touchdown in a six-catch, 50-yard outing in a win against the Tennessee Titans.
Now, he finds himself in a Week 7 matchup against a Detroit Lions defense that is allowing the 12th-most points per game to opposing fantasy wide receivers.
This same Lions defense allowed Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin to go for six catches and 77 yards in Week 6 and allowed Panthers WR Adam Thielen to go for 11 catches, 107 yards, and a touchdown in their Week 5 matchup.
Flowers finds himself in a really good position to produce in this matchup. The rookie has already laid claim to the team’s WR1 spot, leading the team in targets (48) and receiving yards (367) through six weeks.
Flowers should be started in lineups in Week 7. He is currently the WR18 in our half-PPR consensus staff rankings.
Should I Start Jakobi Meyers for Fantasy Football?
Meyers has surpassed expectations so far this season, currently sitting as the WR16 in half-PPR formats. Meyers kept this pace up in Week 6 when he reeled in five catches for 61 yards and a touchdown in a win against the New England Patriots.
He’s set to face a Chicago Bears defense in Week 7 that has made a case for being one of the worst in the NFL through six weeks. They’re currently allowing 29.3 total points per game, good for the third-most of all teams. On top of that, they’re allowing 267.3 passing yards per game, which is the fourth-most in the league.
After fellow WR Davante Adams made some comments in a midweek press conference that would suggest he wants the ball more moving forward, it’s likely we may see an increase in volume for Adams in this Week 7 matchup.
That being said, there is still plenty of room for Meyers to have another strong fantasy outing. Fantasy managers should look to be starting Meyers in Week 7.
