Should I Drop Kyler Murray? Fantasy Football Outlook For Week 13

Kyler Murray - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, Draft Targets

Should I drop Kyler Murray for fantasy football in Week 13? Is Kyler Murray safe to cut, or should I hold him? Read the latest fantasy football waiver outlooks.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray heads into Week 13 of the 2024 fantasy football season as one of the streakiest players in the league. On his best days, Murray showcases his elite dual-threat ability, putting up performances that can win you a week single-handedly.

However, his inconsistency has been frustrating for fantasy managers, as he’s just as capable of posting a dud when things don’t go his way. This boom-or-bust nature has made him a risky, albeit enticing, option in lineups this year.

So, should you drop Murray ahead of Week 13? What is the expected outlook for the Arizona QB? Let's break it down.

Editor's Note: The FFPC Baby Gorilla Tournament is now open, featuring a $100,000 grand prize and a $675,450 total prize pool! Should I Drop Kyler Murray in Fantasy Football?

Despite Murray’s ups and downs, the Cardinals have been better than expected, with a 6-5 record, proving they’re no pushovers. However, Week 13 presents a tough challenge as Murray and the Cardinals take on the Minnesota Vikings, one of the stingiest defenses in the NFL.

With Minnesota excelling at limiting big plays and forcing mistakes, Murray must be at his best to deliver for fantasy managers. His season stats show solid efficiency—215 completions on 313 attempts (68.7%) for 2,343 passing yards—but his 12 touchdowns through the air leave something to be desired. For Murray to be a top-tier fantasy quarterback, he must improve his scoring production.

One area where Murray continues to shine is his rushing ability, which has been a lifesaver for fantasy. On the season, he’s racked up 380 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 48 carries, providing a valuable floor even when his passing numbers aren’t elite.

His ability to extend plays and turn broken pockets into first downs (or more) makes him a unique asset at the quarterback position. However, as the fantasy playoffs loom, managers need to see more of those high-ceiling performances to trust him as a reliable starter.

Kyler Murray Fantasy Football Outlook for Week 13

The talent is there—Murray’s arm strength, accuracy, and mobility make him one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in both real-life and fantasy football. But the inconsistency has been the sticking point, and it’s been hard to predict whether you’re getting MVP-caliber Kyler or someone who struggles to find the end zone.

If he can string together more complete games, Murray has the tools to carry fantasy teams through the playoffs.

Heading into Week 13, Murray is still a must-start for most managers due to his upside, but the matchup against the Vikings makes him a riskier play. Fantasy managers should temper expectations, especially with Minnesota’s defense playing lights out.

If Murray can break through with a big performance, it could signal a strong finish to the season for him and the Cardinals. Until then, fantasy managers will need to ride the wave and hope for more boom than bust.

You can't drop him for fantasy at this point, but the highs and lows have been frustrating. There's no doubt about it.
