Time to Drop Jerry Jeudy? Fantasy Football Week 9 Waiver Wire Outlook (2025)

Jerry Jeudy - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

Should I drop Jerry Jeudy for fantasy football Week 9? Is Jerry Jeudy a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.

The wide receiver position has been decimated by injuries this season. One player who has stayed healthy is the Cleveland Browns’ receiver Jerry Jeudy. Unfortunately, his availability hasn’t translated into fantasy production.

Jeudy has struggled with inconsistency this season, trying to navigate a struggling passing attack and a quarterback transition. Fantasy managers who drafted him expecting a volume-based WR2 have struggled to trust him in the lineup.

Should fantasy managers drop Jeudy in fantasy football? Are there better options on the waiver wire? Read below to find out.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Should I Drop Jerry Jeudy in Fantasy Football?

Jeudy had a strong season, both in real life and fantasy, with the Cleveland Browns in 2024. Jeudy operated as a high-volume target during his first season with the Browns, catching 90 of 145 targets for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns. Jeudy finished as the WR24 in PPR points per game (14.2) thanks to a strong stretch to end the season. He was the WR8 in points per game (19.8) over the final eight games of the season.

That volume and production (and the lack of added target competition) made Jeudy a popular pick this summer in fantasy football drafts. Jeudy was fantasy relevant with a rotating cast of bad quarterbacks in 2024, and the hope was that Joe Flacco could help elevate him in 2025.

Unfortunately, that best-case scenario has not manifested. Through eight weeks, Jeudy has just 22 receptions for 257 yards. He’s been the WR82 in PPR points per game (6.0) and has just one game with over 10.0 points. The Flacco experience lasted just four weeks before Cleveland opted to transition to 2025 third-round pick Dillon Gabriel.

Jeudy did not produce much with Flacco (13 receptions for 82 yards), but he did average 7.5 targets per game. Since transitioning to Gabriel, Jeudy’s role (6.0 targets per game) and production (nine receptions for 75 yards in four games) have been subpar.

Cleveland has tried to remain a rushing team with Gabriel under center, but the passing attack has funneled through the tight end position. Jeudy is the WR107 in fantasy points per game (4.1) with the rookie under center.

At this point, it is fair to drop Jeudy in fantasy. Not only is the passing offense struggling with Gabriel under center, but Jeudy is struggling to see the volume he will need to be fantasy relevant. There are numerous options on the waiver wire in pass-heavy offenses or with better roles for fantasy.

Who Should I Pick Up for Fantasy Football?

Several fantasy-friendly options on the waiver wire can provide more punch than Jeudy in fantasy. All players listed below are available in at least 50% of Yahoo leagues.

One of the hottest receivers in the NFL right now is New England Patriots’ receiver Kayshon Boutte (40% rostered). Boutte has three straight games with at least 50 receiving yards, a touchdown, and 13.0 fantasy points.

Similarly, Denver Broncos’ second-year receiver Troy Franklin has started to come on. Franklin has scored at least 12.0 fantasy points in consecutive games thanks to his ability to find the end zone. He struggled earlier in the season, but he has had at least four targets in every game this season.

Deeper sleepers (20% rostered or less) that also have boom-or-bust upside are Green Bay Packers receiver Christian Watson (17%), Houston Texans’ receiver Jaylin Noel (8%), and Chimere Dike (8%). All of these players can take any touch to the end zone, but are routinely receiving targets further downfield.
