Should I drop Chase for fantasy football Week 7? Is Chase Brown a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.
Fantasy managers who spent a second-round pick on Chase Brown likely aren't feeling too great about it currently. It's a disappointing outcome for Brown since Joe Burrow went down with a toe injury back in Week 2, and the offense has predictably fallen off since. He's averaging just 9.7 PPR points per game this season, good for RB33 overall.
Cincinnati went out and upgraded the QB position by trading for Joe Flacco, who at least looked competent in his first start in Week 6 at Green Bay. Flacco is willing to check it down to his running backs, which will help raise the floor for Brown since he's been one of the most inefficient runners in the league.
However, there's still some time for Brown to turn his season around. Let's break down whether he is still worth holding onto.

Should I Drop Chase Brown in Fantasy Football?
It's not quite to the point where Brown is droppable, but the recent trend is not super promising. He's seen his snap share decrease significantly over the past two weeks, with veteran Samaje Perine finding more work. Brown played 53.4% of snaps in Week 5 and 53.2% in Week 6, slightly ahead of Perine, who logged 46.6% and 46.8% in those weeks, respectively.
Brown still has a sizable advantage in overall touches in that span, with 26 to Perine's 14, but he has not been the workhorse he was last season.
That receiving volume was a key driver of Brown’s scoring profile during his breakout 2024 season. He occupied the ideal high-value touch role in one of the league’s highest scoring offenses. From Week 9 onward, after taking over the backfield, he averaged nearly five receptions per game and scored six total touchdowns.
This year, however, the offense has taken a significant step back. Brown has found the end zone just once and has reached five receptions in only one game all season. In addition, Perine took 75% of the snaps inside the 10-yard line in Week 6. After holding a strong percentage of the team's rushing attempts in Weeks 1-4 (75%), it dropped to 53.1% in Weeks 5 and 6.
In 12-team leagues and deeper, there's likely not a better alternative to turn to on the waiver wire, so it would be tough to justify dropping him. But he's certainly not a must-start at this point if you have other options or perhaps a more boom-bust type player that makes more sense to put in the flex if you need a win.
In 10-team leagues and shallower, if you're pinched for roster space, the move could be justified.

Who Should I Pick Up for Fantasy Football?
While fantasy managers likely shouldn't drop Brown, as mentioned, it's tough to start him right now. So, who can you find on the waiver wire to plug into a flex spot?
The Arizona backfield is a messy one to try to figure out, but Bam Knight and Michael Carter appear to be in a platoon role together. Knight was limited in practice on Wednesday with a knee injury, so his status for Sunday's game will be one to monitor. If he's unable to go, it'd set up Carter for another high-volume game, albeit against a tough Packers defense.

Tyjae Spears is another player who was likely coveted on waivers this week, but if available, he'd be someone worth adding. He looks to have the receiving role in the Titans' backfield locked down, which could be pretty valuable in PPR leagues if he catches lots of dump-off passes while the Titans play catch-up mode every game.
It's a similar thesis for Kenneth Gainwell, except for the part about playing catch-up. Gainwell has run more routes than Jaylen Warren in all but one of their games together, and Aaron Rodgers loves to check it down to his running backs at this stage of his career.
