Fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks and advice for Russell Wilson in Week 1 of the 2024 season. Should I start or sit Wilson in fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Sit in Week 1
POSITIONAL VALUE: Low-end QB2
ANALYSIS: While it's fair to question Russell Wilson's talent at age 35 and the Pittsburgh Steelers offense, fantasy managers should try to avoid starting Russell Wilson in Week 1.
Wilson was recently named the starting quarterback to begin the 2024 season after a long quarterback battle with Justin Fields throughout training camp. Ultimately, coach Mike Tomlin named Wilson the starter for Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Starting Wilson in Week 1 might not be the best choice for fantasy managers due to his adjustment to a new team and system with the Steelers. Transitioning to a new offense often comes with growing pains, and Wilson may need time to develop chemistry with his new teammates.
The Steelers' offensive line has also been a concern, potentially limiting Wilson's ability to find success in the passing game if he's under constant pressure. Additionally, the Week 1 matchup may not be favorable for Wilson, as he will be on the road in Atlanta, which is always a challenging environment.
Due to a potentially bad matchup, a poor 2023 showing, and adjusting to a new team, fantasy managers should not start Wilson as a QB1 in 10 or 12-man leagues.
UPDATE: Wilson has officially been ruled out for the contest against the Atlanta Falcons. Justin Fields will start at quarterback.
