Zack Wheeler Goes On Paternity Leave
3 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies placed right-hander Zack Wheeler on the paternity list on Tuesday and recalled outfielder Matt Vierling from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move. The Phillies also put infielder Johan Camargo (knee) on the 10-day injured list with a right knee strain and selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Scott Kingery from Lehigh Valley. Wheeler's next scheduled start will come this Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, so he shouldn't be forced to miss any time. The 32-year-old was a first-time All-Star for the Phils last year, and he's been very strong again in his first 10 starts, going 4-3 with a 3.14 ERA, league-leading 2.30 FIP, 1.17 ERA, 67 strikeouts and only 15 walks in 57 1/3 innings.
