Corey Seager Undergoing Appendectomy on Thursday
Corey Seager (appendix) was diagnosed with appendicitis and is undergoing an appendectomy on Thursday, according to general manager and president of baseball operations Chris Young. The Rangers aren't ruling out Seager playing again this year, but in the meantime, utility man Dylan Moore will join the active roster with Seager going on the injured list. For however long Seager is out of action, fantasy managers should expect Josh Smith to man the 6 in Texas. The 28-year-old offers positional versatility for fantasy lineups but not a whole lot else. In 121 games (480 plate appearances) in his fourth year in the big leagues, Smith is slashing .256/.333/.378 with nine home runs, 32 RBI, nine steals and 61 runs scored. Seager has reached the 20-homer mark for the fourth straight season, so his loss is a big one for a Rangers team looking more unlikely to make the postseason in 2025.
