Randy Rodriguez Battling Arm Soreness
Randy Rodriguez (arm) was unavailable to pitch on Sunday because of soreness in his right arm, manager Bob Melvin said. The issue began after Rodriguez took the loss against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. He hasn't pitched since he yielded a walk-off home run to William Contreras in that game. With Rodriguez out of commission Sunday, Ryan Walker closed the door on the Brewers in a 4-3 win for his 11th save of the season. Walker threw a scoreless, one-hit ninth inning with two strikeouts. If Rodriguez has to miss more time, it could lead to an increase in save opportunities for Walker. Rodriguez has slumped in August, having surrendered four earned runs in 5 2/3 innings, taken three losses, and blown a save, but his numbers remain excellent. The flamethrowing 25-year-old has put up a 1.78 ERA with a 0.89 WHIP, 67:11 K:BB, 13 holds, and four saves across 50 2/3 frames.
