Wilmer Font Goes Four Innings In First Mets Start
Days after being acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays, New York Mets pitcher Wilmer Font made his first start for the Mets. Taking on the San Diego Padres in a series finale, the 28-year-old went just four innings, allowing two runs on three hits while throwing 60 pitches in the process. Font's spot start, just the fifth of his career, came as a result of Steven Matz's forearm injury. All things considered, it wasn't a poor performance, with his offense being the biggest culprit in the loss. Still, Font was handed a no-decision as the losing run came in the latter stages of the game.
