Tyler Stephenson Getting Another Day Off Friday
1 year agoCincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson is not in the starting lineup on Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Luke Maile will do the catching and bat in the nine-hole against Pirates right-hander Johan Oviedo. Since the All-Star break, Stephenson is hitting just .182 (10-for-55) with a home run, one double, two RBI, 14 strikeouts and six runs scored in 19 games (16 starts). It's been a pretty disappointing year in general for the 26-year-old backstop, as he's currently slashing .243/.328/.355 with eight home runs, 39 RBI and 47 runs scored in 358 at-bats. Still, Stephenson is worth rostering in single-catcher leagues given the weak nature of the position in fantasy.
