Tyler Callihan Goes On 10-Day Injured List With Fractured Forearm
Tyler Callihan (forearm) on the 10-day injured list with a left-forearm fracture and recalled outfielder Jacob Hurtubise from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. The Reds also optioned right-hander Yosver Zulueta to Louisville and recalled right-hander Lyon Richardson from Louisville. Callihan's IL placement is no surprise after he fractured his forearm after crashing into the outfield wall in Monday's contest against the Atlanta Braves. The 24-year-old had surgery on his arm on Tuesday and is expected to be out for six to eight weeks. The former third-rounder had a hit in his first six big-league at-bats for the Reds as a reserve outfielder before suffering his serious injury. Until Austin Hays (hamstring) returns from the IL, the Reds could use Gavin Lux, Blake Dunn and Hurtubise in left field.
