Tommy Pham Sitting Out On Tuesday
6 months agoChicago White Sox outfielder Tommy Pham is not in Tuesday's starting lineup against the hosting Cleveland Guardians. Gavin Sheets will start in right field and bat cleanup, with Eloy Jimenez serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth against Guardians right-hander Carlos Carrasco. It will be Pham's first day off in the team's last 16 games, and he's served as the leadoff hitter in all of those contests. Center fielder Luis Robert Jr. will get the leadoff duties on Tuesday for the Pale Hose. The 36-year-old Pham signed with the White Sox after the start of the 2024 season and has been a valuable outfield option for the worst team in baseball, hitting .265/.344/.376 with four home runs, 16 RBI and four stolen bases. He'll be a potential trade target for contending teams at this summer's deadline, but a change of scenery will also likely mean less playing time than he's currently seeing.
