Teams Interested In Reds Depth
1 year agoCincinnati Reds general manager Nick Krall said rival teams are asking about "a handful" of the team's position players this offseason, which is an unsurprising development given their depth, especially in the infield. Jonathan India and Nick Senzel and rookies Spencer Steer, Elly De La Cruz, Matt McLain, Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Noelvi Marte all had at least 120 plate appearances in 2023. Meanwhile, outfielders TJ Friedl, Jake Fraley, Will Benson and Stuart Fairchild also had at least 250 trips to the plate. It's one of the reasons the Reds declined first baseman Joey Votto's 2024 option. Senzel is a potential non-tender candidate, and India is a prime trade candidate. "People are calling because you have a lot of guys," Krall said. "We don't need to trade somebody at this point. I'd rather keep as many guys as possible."
