Seahawks Re-Sign Carlos Dunlap; Jarran Reed Not Expected Back
4 years agoThe Seattle Seahawks re-signed defensive end Carlos Dunlap to a two-year, $16.6 million deal with $8.5 million guaranteed, according to a source. The Seahawks are also expected to trade or release defensive tackle Jarran Reed. Dunlap, 32, was released earlier this month in a salary cap-saving move. But they will bring him back after he helped ignite the team's stagnant pass rush last year after he arrived in a trade in October. Dunlap had five sacks and 15 QB hits in nine games for the Seahawks, including the playoffs. His 87.5 regular season sacks rank him 12th among active players. Seattle has a deep group of edge players, although Reed's departure will leave a void. The 28-year-old has been a full-time starter since 2017, and he was mostly known for being a run-stuffer. Reed broke out for 10.5 sacks in 2018. He had 6.5 sacks in 16 games last year but is set to count almost $14 million against the cap in 2021.
